  • Publication number: 20140314475
Abstract: A connector comprises a first coupling part having a flat surface with a shaft projecting therefrom; and a second coupling part having a corresponding flat surface and a hole, such that the flat surfaces may be in abutment when the shaft is inserted into the hole and the first coupling part is positioned transverse to the second coupling part. The first coupling part is movable relative to the second coupling part from a position in which the shaft is inserted into the hole to a position in which the coupling parts are held so as to be inseparable by the shaft being captured inside the hole. The first coupling part is rotatable relative to the second coupling part about the shaft when the first coupling part is in the position in which the coupling parts are held so as to be inseparable.

  • Publication number: 20140310909
Abstract: An apparatus and methods for collecting swept waste material are described herein. The apparatus includes a dustpan having a base and a wall, a handle, and a plurality of protrusions. The base is configured to be placed in contact with a surface to be cleaned and includes a front lip over which debris can be swept. The wall extends upwardly from at least a portion of the base other than the front lip and is configured to contain debris in the dustpan. The handle is coupled to a top edge of the wall opposite the front lip and extends away from the wall and downwardly from the top edge so that an end of the handle is disposed approximately even with the base. The plurality of protrusions extend inwardly from the wall and are configured to remove debris from bristles of a broom when the broom is swept across the plurality of protrusions.

  • Publication number: 20140130364
Abstract: A pivotally-leveraged manual centrifugal drive according to a preferred embodiment of the invention for use with a bowl and a basket formed to nest within the bowl, comprising: a) a housing formed to mate with the bowl; b) a rotation wheel rotatably connected to the housing, formed to mate with the basket, and having a plane of rotation; c) a handle pivotally attached to the housing and oriented to move in a plane that is substantially perpendicular to the plane of rotation of the rotation wheel; and d) gears connecting the handle to the rotation wheel. Also disclosed are an automatic clutch that engages the rotation wheel only when the handle is moved in one direction, and a braking mechanism that includes a disk having a diameter substantially smaller than the rotation wheel.
