Abstract: A brace for controlling the degree of motion of a person's knee. The brace includes a first cuff for releasable securement to the thigh portion of the leg and a second cuff arranged to be releasably secured to the calf portion of the leg. Elongated brace members extend between the upper cuff and the lower cuff and are interconnected by polycentric hinges. A set of pairs of wedge-like stop members are provided with the brace. Each pair of wedge members is arranged to be releasably secured to associated brace members adjacent the hinge means to serve as stop means precluding the extension of the brace beyond a maximum extension angle. Each pair of wedge members establishes a different maximum extension angle. Bands are also provided to hold the brace in place on the leg.

Abstract: A sleeve adapted to be placed over the knee, said sleeve being configured to anatomically conform to the thigh, knee and upper calf. The sleeve comprises a resilient elastomeric foam sheath having a fabric covering, with the elastomeric foam being adapted to contact the leg. The sheath is formed from a front panel and a rear panel, with the rear panel being basically diamond-shaped, and having upper and lower apices adapted to be positioned in the center of the rear of the leg. The front panel has side edges angled inwardly from the top and bottom, and the rear panel is secured to the front panel along the side edges of the front panel. The sleeve can include an opening over the patella, which permits the patella to project into the opening.

Abstract: An ankle brace comprising a jacket having a lateral side portion on which a pair or arcuate members are pivotably secured for conformance about the underlying malleolus. The jacket is arranged to be laced about the ankle by a first lace and with the arcuate members being secured together by a second lace to enable the members to closely conform and surround each malleolus to provide bracing and support thereto. A lift strap is secured to the lateral side of the jacket adjacent the bottom edge thereof and is arranged to be wrapped around the jacket in a figure-eight pattern for securement to the medial side. The strap is formed of an elastic material to closely conform to the jacket and to provide an upward lifting force to the jacket.

Abstract: A sleeve adapted to be placed over the knee, said sleeve being configured to anatomically conform to the thigh, knee and upper calf, said sleeve comprising a resilient elastomeric foam sheath having a fabric covering, said elastomeric foam being adapted to contact the body, said sheath being formed from two pieces, with the first piece being configured to encircle the front and sides of the leg in the area of the knee and the second piece being secured to said first piece by a pair of spaced, substantially parallel seams, said seams being on opposite sides of the center of the rear of the leg and knee. The sleeve can also include an opening over the patella, with a pad secured around the outer perimeter of the opening, said pad being adapted to contact the outer edge of the patella, and restrict the patella from lateral movement.
