  • Patent number: 7670650
Abstract: A method for producing a replaceable fuser member including a thin, seamless or welded high temperature nickel sleeve, a base cushion positioned around the sleeve and an outside topcoat applied over the base cushion elastomer layer. The sleeve is replaceable on a machine mandrel positioned in an electrophotographic copying machine in a fuser section of the electrophotographic copying machine. The method includes the use of a mandrel having a coefficient of thermal expansion similar to that of the sleeve to support the sleeve during positioning of a cured base cushion layer around the sleeve and a cured topcoat layer over the cured base material.

  • Patent number: 5713064
Abstract: The scavenging of a first toner into a second toning station in a DAD-CAD or CAD-DAD process can be reduced by allowing scavenged toner to deposit in the background of single color images. The polarity of the first toner of the scavenged toner is not changed prior to transfer and remains on the image member through transfer from which it is later cleaned. Alternatively, scavenged toner is deposited from a second toning station on the image member while no images are being made and allowed to pass through transfer to be cleaned off.

  • Patent number: 4602863
Abstract: Electrographic development is obtained by predeterminedly rotating an alternating pole core of a magnetic brush applicator, within a surrounding applicator shell, to supply developer, of the kind including small particle, hard-magnetic carrier and electrically insulative toner, to an electrostatic imaging member which moves past a development station with predetermined linear velocity. The shell can be stationary or rotate at a velocity significantly less than the image member velocity. The core is predeterminedly rotated so that (i) its fields effect a large portion of transport through the development zone and (ii) the developer moves co-currently with the imaging member and at a linear velocity generally equal to the imaging member velocity.

  • Patent number: 4473029
Abstract: Improved electrographic development is obtained in the presence of a development electrode field by predeterminedly rotating both the core and shell of a magnetic brush applicator to supply developer, of the kind comprising small particle, hard-magnetic carrier and electrically insulative toner, to an electrostatic imaging member which moves past a development station with predetermined linear velocity. In one preferred embodiment the core and shell are predeterminedly rotated so that the shell moves through the development zone at a rate preventing toner that is plated-out on the shell from affecting image development and so that the developer moves co-currently with the imaging member at a generally equal linear velocity.

  • Patent number: 4410263
Abstract: Apparatus for transferring seriatim related transferable images from sequentially spaced image-receiving areas on the member onto a surface of a moving receiver sheet. The transfer apparatus includes a mechanism which captures the lead and trail edges of a receiver sheet. A portion of the sheet intermediate the lead and trail edges is self-supporting. The mechanism moves to repetitively circulate a captured sheet along a path through a position at which such sheet is in transfer relation to a transferable image on the member. A charger is located adjacent to such position on the opposite side of the sheet from the member to effect transfer of the transferable images. The movement of the mechanism is synchronized with the image-receiving areas on the member to sequentially register the captured sheet accurately with the related transferable images at such position so that the images are transferred to such sheet in accurate superimposed register.
