A control system is provided to set up call, direct provider video content, and provide for the phone calls and video content to be delivered and then synchronized. The phone calls may be routed by the control system to PSTN destinations or Internet based destinations and calls made or received may be bridged to other Internet based sources. The provider video content may be provided directly from its source or routed through NAT traversal or through the control system.

Abstract: A multi-port VoIP telecommunications system that allows the user to gain access to telephone connectivity through the Internet by connecting directly to the Internet or by connecting to the Internet through the existing Internet connection of a computer or cell phone device. The present system includes an Ethernet port, a Wi-Fi receiver to facilitate the transmission and receipt of Internet protocol signals wirelessly, a USB plug connectable to the ATA, connectivity to a home monitoring network and connectivity to Bluetooth devices.

The method of establishing and controlling a telecommunications or multimedia communications sessions over a conventional call signaling protocol is employed in one embodiment through the provision of a database which includes resource records linked together by user which include an email address and corresponding URIs, the retrieval of a corresponding URI upon the generation of a session invitation which identifies its target recipient by email address, the transmitting of the session invitation to the retrieved URI, and notifying the target recipient by sending a message to the email address used to generate the session invitation.

The content can include nonlinear content. Transmission other than broadcast transmission can include unicast transmission, which can be in response to a user request and/or an initiation by a server. The received nonlinear content can be stored at the receiver for play back at a time different from the time of transmission.

Abstract: A system and method adapted to allow a user to be automatically presented with digitally available content related to words spoken or heard by a user. The system and method for processing flagged words in audible communications is operative to analyze the content in an audible communication, as well as stress levels associated with different segments of the conversation, in order to flag key words and/or phrases and associate the flagged words and/or phrases with relevant digital content, which may be provided in the form of web links, advertising offers, and even warnings to the communications to be delivered with the audible communication. Thus, the system and method for processing flagged words in audible communications in operation enables a user to receive actionable information and/or advertisements relevant to a user's conversations or media heard (and/or viewed) in real time.

The spoken diagnostics system and method for comprises a central analysis server and an analog telephone adapter (“ATA”). When in operation, when a consumer (as an end user) pick up a telephone which is connected to and/or operating through the ATA and enters a preset diagnostic code, defined a telephone number in one embodiment, the ATA and the central analysis server perform a series of diagnostic functions and cause one or more verbal messages relating to the status of the ATA as determined through the diagnostic functions to be spoken over the phone so as to be communicated to the consumer.

Abstract: A method, apparatus and system to provide the ability for a user to have improved OTA reception of TV signals. The system employs an antenna, a media receiver/player and/or display, and a datacenter. The antenna is placed with line of sight to broadcast towers and is provided with clean wiring from the antenna through the building to a the TV. A high performance TV tuner and a demodulator are included in the TV or STB. A datacenter located in relevant Television Market Area is incorporated to receive, process and make available correction packets over a network. Under typical circumstances, an OTV television signal as broadcast contains degradation in the form of a number of error packets in the broadcast stream by the time it is received by an antenna. The system employed detects and marks of error packets and replaces them with good packets delivered over a network.

Abstract: A method, apparatus and system to provide the ability for a user to grant permission and enable a technician or other entity to remotely access the user's computer networking device, such as a router, through an ATA or other electronic consumer device which is connected to the network provided by the computer networking device. The technician is then provided with the ability to access from a remote location the configuration and operation screens of the user's router and provide assistance related to the same. Permission to access the router through the electronic consumer device is granted by performing some local action on the electronic consumer device, such as pressing a specified button or dialing a code on the electronic consumer device or a device connected to the electronic consumer device.

Abstract: A method, apparatus and system to provide the ability for the user interfaces (i.e. viewing, navigating, searching, finding) of modern entertainment system devices to be operated on and controlled by commercially available handheld electronic devices. Applicants' second screen control method and apparatus comprises a Primary Screen and a Secondary screen. The Secondary Screen, embodied on a handheld electronic device, displays the typical on-screen information and may also display Internet content and allow one to simultaneously interact with the social media systems. The Primary Screen, typically embodied as TV set, displays the selected program. Social media information relating may also be displayed on the Primary Screen simultaneously with the selected video content, as directed by the Secondary Screen, in a variety of modalities including overlay and squeeze back.

Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for programming content reconstruction in a content delivery system are described. In one embodiment, a method to repair programming content at a receiver controller includes receiving a programming content on the receiver controller from a broadcast transmission; identifying, if present, a portion of the programming content received on the receiver controller that is corrupted; determining in a broadband network, other servers and receiver controllers connected to the broadband network that have an uncorrupted version of the corrupted portion of the programming content; sending a request to one of the other servers and receiver controllers for the uncorrupted version of the corrupted portion of the programming content and receiving the uncorrupted version of the corrupted portion of the programming content from the one of the other servers and receiver controllers. Other embodiments are also described.
