  • Publication number: 20200013269
Abstract: A method of steps and a system of components which detects and responds to smoke, CO, and/or fire hazard emergency alarm signals (loud audio noise and/or bright strobe lights) and then provides a shut-off of electrical power and/or fuel gas (e.g. natural gas or propane) as well as other types of power and energy for safety's sake. The present invention is improved over the current product offerings and state of the art through increasing the reliability of alarm signal detection by utilizing redundancy and providing primary and backup sensor functionality for both of the possible commonly intended alarm signal outputs instead of monitoring for just one. This invention also includes a method of steps and a system which further improves reliability by adding additional redundancy and backups through detecting and responding to the unobvious but real by-product alarm signals which are: 1. the vibration of the audible alarm mechanism and 2. the electricity flowing in or to the activated alarm.

  • Publication number: 20080000925
Abstract: The packet dispenser includes a container structure having an interior cavity. The cavity has a sufficient dimension such that a packet structure may be stored therein. The container structure has an opening to the cavity through which the packet structure can be removed therefrom. A tear structure is connected to the container structure such that the packet structure may contact the tear structure to tear a portion thereof when the packet structure is removed from the cavity.

  • Publication number: 20070281003
Abstract: The invention relates to the film products and methods of their preparation that demonstrate a non-self-aggregating uniform heterogeneity. Desirably, the films disintegrate in water and may be formed by a controlled drying process, or other process that maintains the required uniformity of the film. The films contain a polymer component which includes polyethylene oxide, optionally blended with at least one additional polymer. The films may alternatively contain a polymer component which includes polyvinyl alcohol, optionally blended with at least one additional polymer. The films also may contain a pharmaceutical and/or cosmetic active agent.

  • Publication number: 20070190157
Abstract: The present invention relates to packaging in the form of a pouch, which may contain active substances, such as food products, pharmaceutical agents, nutraceuticals and cosmetic agents, or the like. More specifically, in some embodiments, the present invention provides a pouch, which includes at least one porous substrate encompassing a closed volume and at least one water-soluble film at least partially covering the at least one porous substrate. The pouch may contain an active substance within the closed volume, as well as an active substance in the water-soluble film. The present invention also relates to methods of making and using the pouches.

  • Publication number: 20070149731
Abstract: The invention relates to pH modulated films and methods of their preparation. The film compositions include at least one component having a non-neutral pH when combined with water; and a pH modulated polymer system selected to reduce or prevent synerisis when combined with the non-neutral component in combination with aqueous media. The films demonstrate a non-self-aggregating uniform heterogeneity. Desirably, the films disintegrate in water and may be formed by a controlled drying process, extrusion process, or other process that maintains the required uniformity of the film.

  • Publication number: 20070122455
Abstract: The present invention relates to water-soluble films incorporating anti-tacking agents and methods of their preparation. Anti-tacking agents may improve the flow characteristics of the compositions and thereby reduce the problem of film adhering to a user's mouth or to other units of film. In particular, the present invention relates to edible water-soluble delivery systems in the form of a film composition including a water-soluble polymer, an active component selected from cosmetic agents, pharmaceutical agents, vitamins, bioactive agents and combinations thereof and at least one anti-tacking agent.

  • Publication number: 20060039958
Abstract: The present invention relates to edible multi-layer films that dissolve in water. In particular, the edible multi-layer films have a first water-soluble film layer and one or more additional water-soluble film layers in at least partial face-to-face engagement with the first film layer. The film layers include a polymer composition which contains polyethylene oxide alone or in combination with at least one water-soluble polymer. The edible multi-layer films may include pockets defined between the layers that house an active component. Upon addition of water, the multi-layer film dissolves, thereby releasing the active component into the water.

  • Patent number: 5891845
Abstract: Vitamin E TPGS/drug compositions and methods are provided which obviate the need for surfactants or non-evaporated co-solvents because the active drug component is dissolved directly into Vitamin E TPGS to form a true molecular solution--not an emulsion or a micro-emulsion. The invention provides a slowly dissolving TPGS/Drug matrix that absorbs gastrointestinal fluid into the matrix at the dosage form/fluid interface, where a gel-like liquid crystal is formed. This gel front forms a liquid crystal boundary where drug dissolution is highest. At this liquid crystal/GI fluid boundary, a synchronization takes place in which the rate of formation of liquid crystals equals the dissolution rate of liquid crystals at the water interface, thereby giving controlled order release of the drug into the GI tract. The rate of dissolution is also controlled by the geometry of the dosage form.
