A communications subsystem is included for transporting the encrypted data from the server to the client. Software is provided at the client for decrypting the encrypted data. The inventive method includes the steps of: using a client machine to access a server via a network and to request data therefrom; encrypting at least a portion of said data on said server; communicating said encrypted data from said server to said client; and decrypting said data on said client. In the illustrative embodiment, the inventive method operates under the control of an agent residing on the server. The encrypting software is a first applet residing on the server and the decrypting software is a second applet residing on the client. In the illustrative implementation, the second applet is communicated from the server to the client.

The port monitor can support local printing/storing of files and provide selected files to remotely located service providers. Service providers may, for example, provide printing services, document/content distribution services, etc. The port monitor is configured with an agent process that uploads device-independent data within a file to the service device associated with a selected service provider. The agent process is also configured to launch a browser or like process to provide an interactive interface for the user in selecting particular services/features and providing other additional information as required to the service device. Abstract: A system and method for distributing information. The inventive system is a client-server architecture with software agents running on both the client and server systems. The invention saves time, incorporates email distribution in any application that is print capable, and allows electronic document delivery in multiple formats in addition to the native application document format. The system uses an application's print mechanism running on a client for electronic distribution of documents via email. In the illustrative embodiment, the client agent receives user interfaces from the server that allows document routing by presenting available services (such as print, email, fax, publish, etc.). The user first selects “print” from their application, such as a word processor application. The file is then intercepted by a port monitor that is launched by the printing sub-system of the network operating system.

There is also a master criteria list that includes all the predefined search criteria from all the job requisition records. A resume processing agent is further included, and it is for receiving a resume entry and create a resume record including any matched search criteria from the master criteria list for each of the resume entries. Lastly, there is a job matching agent for matching any of the resume record(s) to each job requisition record according to the predefined search criteria of the job requisition record and the matched search criteria of the resume record.
