Abstract: Exemplar embodiments for facilitating remote updating of a client device's printer settings in a networked environment are disclosed. An illustrative method includes the steps of receiving information from a network in a client device, the information comprising a predefined printer setting that corresponds to a printer accessible through a print server coupled to the network, and automatically updating a printer setting on the client device to correspond to the predefined printer setting. Illustrative methods may be implemented via an executable program received in the client device by e-mail or as part of the network login process. Illustrative systems and computer readable media also are provided.

A method embodying the invention includes acquiring a user's request for a production device and providing the user with an interface for the production device, the interface having user accessible controls for only those options for which the user has permission to access. In one embodiment the interface is generated upon request based upon an electronic record containing data identifying which options the user has permission to access. In another embodiment, an existing interface is modified upon request based upon an electronic record containing data identifying which options the user has permission to access. Once generated or modified the interface is presented to the user.

Abstract: A method for providing queue management and production device status in a distributed environment. One embodiment involves generating a queue interface having user accessible controls for managing production data held in a queue and presenting that queue interface to a client. A status interface is then generated to the client for a production device selected through the queue interface. In a second embodiment a queue interface is generated and presented to a client. Once the production data is delivered to a production device, a status interface for that production device is generated and delivered to the client.

Abstract: A system and method of managing document distribution services of a plurality of document distribution providers and distributing a document of a user with the document distribution services includes registering the document distribution services of the document distribution providers with a document distribution system controller. As such, the document distribution services of the document distribution providers can be managed at the document distribution system controller. The document distribution system controller receives a distribution request for the document from the user and compiles a list of distribution options for the document based on the document distribution services of the document distribution providers. As such, the document distribution system controller presents the list of distribution options for the document to the user.
