Publication number: 20200069314Abstract: The present invention relates to a spring to return more quickly the jaws of a gripper assembly of a delivery system for deploying an embolic coil. Each of the jaws and spring are formed of shape memory alloy configured to be movable between a first position and a second position and returning to the first position, with the spring tension increasing the speed of the return to the first position of the jaws of the gripper assembly. The gripper assembly may be used to insert, retract, reconnect, and rapidly disconnect from the embolic coil.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 29, 2019Publication date: March 5, 2020Inventors: Cam E. Publication number: 20190343534Abstract: A vaso-occlusive device, delivery system and method of delivery to a selected site of the vessel in a manner allowing the vaso-occlusive device to substantially assumes a diameter of an inner surface of the vessel or aneurism sac at the site of the embolization procedure. The vaso-occlusive device or embolic coil has specific properties of wanting to float and conform to the diameter of the aneurysm sac thereby enabling retractability and rapid disconnect detachment for such embolic coil, and a predetermined shape requiring fewer embolic coils per embolization procedure advantageously improving patient risk, and the cost and time of the procedure. A method for deploying the embolic coil with such specific properties to the site of an aneurysm using a delivery system configured for deploying the embolic coil features inserting, and/or reconnecting for positioning and reinserting the embolic coil.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 24, 2019Publication date: November 14, 2019Inventors: Civan Islak, Sadik Semih Demiralp, Garth W. Boyd, Michael J. Kuske, Cam E. Habeger

Patent number: 10335156Abstract: An embolic coil configured with a self-adaptive floating diameter in a relaxed condition substantially assuming the shape of the inner surface of the vessel at the site of an embolization procedure. The embolic coil comprises a distal end having an anchoring loop for anchoring at the site, a proximal end with a loop for detaching from a gripper assembly adapted to deliver to the site, a primary framing coil formed of a plurality of primary omega curves extending between the proximate and distal ends, and a secondary filling coil arrangement formed from a plurality of secondary omega curves that follow the trajectory of the plurality of primary omega curves along the longitudinal length of the embolic coil between the proximate and distal ends. The embolic coil conforms to the diameter of the aneurysm sac enabling retractability and rapid disconnect detachment for such embolic coil advantageously requiring fewer embolic coils.Type: GrantFiled: May 21, 2016Date of Patent: July 2, 2019Assignee: NDI TIP TEKNOLOJILERI ANONIM SIRKETIInventors: Civan Islak, Sadik Semih Demiralp, Garth W. Publication number: 20150300869Abstract: Apparatuses and methods for fuel level sensing use a rotatable housing configured to rotate about an axis based on a fuel level. Within the rotatable housing is a roller ball sensor assembly including a resistive trace having a plurality of portions, a conductive trace and a conductive element. The roller ball sensor assembly is configured to provide a resistance indicative of a rotation of the rotatable housing about the axis by using the conductive element to electrically couple a portion of the plurality of portions corresponding to the resistance to the conductive trace.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 17, 2014Publication date: October 22, 2015Inventors: Arthur S. Patent number: 8251731Abstract: A multiple contact connector interfaces between an implanted medical device and an implanted cable or lead. A connector connects between multiple implanted leads, each of which has multiple independent conductors. The connection system is a planar array of male connector pins on one portion, and a matching array of female connector receptacles on a second portion. Alignment via alignment features and pressing together the portions allows pins to engage with the receptacles providing a secure electrical connection. Sealing features on the connector apparatus seal out external fluids and isolate fluid present in the connector apparatus prior to mating, which electrically isolates each pin and its corresponding receptacle from other pin and receptacle pairs. Latching features retains the relative position of the pins, receptacle, and the positioning of the fluid seals, and is reversible for removal of the connector.Type: GrantFiled: September 15, 2010Date of Patent: August 28, 2012Assignee: Deringer-Ney, Inc.Inventors: Garth W. Boyd, Michael Poppy, Michael Grant

Patent number: 8206175Abstract: During implant of an implantable medical device, implanted cables or leads are inserted to a connector block. An insertion indicator provides the user with a visual indication the cables or leads have been correctly inserted into the connector block, which enables the implanted medical device to properly deliver treatment or receive signals via the implanted cables or leads. The insertion indicator may be provided by a mechanical indicator optically viewable once the lead has been correctly inserted, and/or may be provided by an electrically activated light indicator illuminated by a power source associated with the connector block or with a connector tool used to connect the lead or cable to the connector block upon correct insertion of the lead or cable. The insertion indicator may be permanently or removably disposed on the connector block, a connector tool, and/or a can associated with the connector block.Type: GrantFiled: August 16, 2010Date of Patent: June 26, 2012Assignee: Deringer-Ney, Inc.Inventors: Garth W. Boyd, Aaron Engel, Dana Dubuc, Edward F. Smith, III, Michael E. Poppy, Michael E. Grant

Patent number: 8187015Abstract: An electrical connection apparatus includes an electrical connection contact and an adjustment component within an interior of the electrical connection apparatus. The electrical connection contact is operatively coupled to the adjustment component so that the electrical connection contact adjusts between an insertion position and a contact position in response to rotating the adjustment component. A slider movably arranged within the interior of the electrical connection apparatus causes the electrical connection contact to move in response to rotation of the adjustment component. The electrical connection apparatus includes one or more blocks, and the adjustment component, electrical contact and slider are arranged within an interior of the one or more blocks.Type: GrantFiled: February 24, 2011Date of Patent: May 29, 2012Assignee: Deringer-Ney, Inc.Inventors: Garth W. Patent number: 7942686Abstract: Multiple seals, internal to a connector block, provide for connecting an implantable medical device and an implanted cable or lead. The forces to engage sealing or releasing the seals are derived from a mechanism so they can be relaxed to permit ease of insertion or withdrawal of a lead, or can be increased to tightly seal against fluid migration, and to provide an electrical insulation between adjacent conductors of the lead and connector block. During implant of the medical device, the lead is inserted and a shaft is rotated with a tool to engage the seals. Later, the seals can be released by rotating the control shaft in the opposite direction to allow extraction of the lead from the connector block. The seals therefore are able to provide improved sealing without increasing the insertion or the extraction forces for the lead.Type: GrantFiled: March 19, 2010Date of Patent: May 17, 2011Assignee: Deringer-Ney, Inc.Inventors: Garth W. Boyd, Aaron Engel, Dana Dubuc, Edward F. Smith, III, Michael E. Poppy, Michael E. Grant
