  • Patent number: 8553496
Abstract: Seismic acquisition systems are disclosed that allow contemporaneous seismic sources to be separated from a composite signal comprising two or more constituent seismic sources. In some embodiments, a representation of the composite signal may be developed that includes a noise contribution of undesired signals present in the composite signal. Additionally, an operator, referred to herein as an “annihilator”, may be developed such that it may be conditioned and inverted to minimize undesired noise contributions in the composite signal. This inversion may assist in recovering the constituent seismic sources from the composite signal. Furthermore, in some embodiments, the accuracy with which the constituent source measurements are approximated may be increased by implementing them as random sweeps having a conventional length.

  • Publication number: 20130155090
Abstract: This disclosure describes techniques for reducing power consumption of a display device. According to these techniques, a display device is configured to determine whether an image to be displayed by the display device has become static. In response to identifying such a static image, the display device may operate in a static image mode. According to the static image mode, the display device may read a current frame of image data, modify the current frame of image data to generate a modified frame of image data with a reduced size, and store the modified image data in memory. The display device may read the modified image data from memory to present the static image, which may reduce power consumption of the display device.

  • Patent number: 6741171
Abstract: A system for transmitting and verifying alarm signals over a TCP/IP network includes an alarm panel hosting an alarm client and verification server and connected to at least one alarm sensor, a TCP/IP network, an alarm monitor server and a verification station connected to each other and to the TCP/IP network. If the alarm client detects an alarm situation, it transmits an alarm signal to the alarm monitor server. The alarm signal contains information on how to contact the verification server. If it is necessary to verify the alarm signal, the alarm monitor station sends the alarm verification station a verification request containing the contact information for the verification server. The alarm verification station contacts the verification server and obtains the verification information available from the alarm verification server.

  • Patent number: 6619258
Abstract: A system (10) for controllably disabling cylinders in an internal combustion engine (12) includes a throttle (18) controlling air flow to an intake manifold (14), a number of cylinder deactivation devices (1001-100K) and an engine controller (28) controlling fueling (90), ignition timing (94) and throttle position (86). The controller (28) is operable to activate only the minimum number of cylinders required to achieve a desired engine/vehicle operating parameter value, open the throttle (18) to a computed throttle position, control ignition timing sufficiently to drive the current value of the engine/vehicle operating parameter to the desired engine/vehicle operating parameter value, and to then control the flow area of the throttle (18) while also controlling ignition timing to maintain the current value of the engine/vehicle operating parameter near the desired engine/vehicle operating parameter value. The engine/vehicle operating parameter may be engine output torque, engine speed or vehicle speed.

  • Patent number: 6522974
Abstract: A process for analyzing, decomposing, synthesizing and extracting seismic signal components, such as the fundamental of a pilot sweep or its harmonics, from seismic data uses a set of basis functions. The basis functions may be any of the harmonics or other components derived from the pilot sweep. These basis functions are modulated with the data being analyzed. The resulting data output from the modulation are then low-pass filtered so that the instantaneous amplitude and differential phase of the particular signal component to be synthesized may be computed. Each targeted component is then synthesized and the result subtracted from the remaining data.

  • Publication number: 20020149672
Abstract: There is provided herein a modular video conferencing system. The system may include, for example, a main unit, a camera unit, and a docking station, each adapted to be removably attached to at least one of the others. The main unit may house a processor, memory, mass storage, and other hardware and software consistent with a video conferencing system. The main unit may include a camera adapter that electrically and mechanically connects the main unit to the camera unit. The camera unit may be directed to change pan, tilt, focus, zoom, and so forth through control signals transmitted from the main unit to the camera unit through the camera adapter. The camera unit may include a plurality of microphones that provide audio signals to the main unit through the camera adapter, and these audio signals may be used by the main unit to determine a location of an audio source relative to the camera unit so that the camera unit may be directed at the audio source.
