  • Publication number: 20230419498
Abstract: Systems and methods for continuous monitoring of the behavior of animals, such as small rodents, are provided. Monitoring can include video, audio, and other sensor modalities. In one embodiment, the system can include cameras, arena design, environmental sensors, and ultrasonic sensors. The system uniquely provides a continuous long-term monitoring system suitable for mouse behavioral study. Further provided is a neural network based tracker configured for use with video data acquired by the monitoring system. 3 different neural network architectures have been tested to determine their performance on genetically diverse mice under varying environmental conditions. It has been observed that that an encoder-decoder segmentation neural network achieves high accuracy and speed with minimal training data.

  • Publication number: 20020177132
Abstract: A method for estimating the factor and interaction effects for gene expression microarray experiments is disclosed. The method requires the inversion of two square matrices of size p and p′, respectively, instead of a matrix of size q where q>>p≈p′. The invention also includes implementation of the methods in computer software, computer readable media comprising these software instructions, and computer systems for performing the methods.

  • Patent number: 5799978
Abstract: An improved cover material for hard- and soft-book covers is disclosed. The material comprises a conventional substrate, such as paper, and a coating that comprises an acrylic binder, the binder having a Tg of -10.degree. to 10.degree. C., and a filler system, the filler system comprising (a) about 2.0% to about 7.0% of silica or a silicate; (b) about 28% to about 38% of calcined clay; (c) about 20% to about 27% of titanium dioxide; and (d) about 30% to about 45% of a white filler pigment. The filler system may additionally comprise 3% to 7% of a pigmentary polymeric particulate. The laminate may also additionally comprise a protective top coat coated over the layer of cover material.
