  • Patent number: 7341010
Abstract: A hub assembly for a seed disk has a conical surface that mates with a cylindrical edge on a hub portion of a seed disk to establish the concentricity of the two components. A pair of paddles on the hub are received in, and inter-fit with corresponding recesses on the seed disk to provide torque transmission. A retention element holds the two components together.

  • Patent number: 6308646
Abstract: A seeding machine is provided with a frame having a plurality of pneumatic seed meters. An air pump located on the frame supplies air pressure to a pneumatic manifold. The pneumatic manifold in turn is pneumatically coupled to the seed meters by air hoses. Pneumatic orifices are pneumatically positioned between the pneumatic manifold and the portion of the seed meters closest to the air pump.

  • Patent number: 6273010
Abstract: A singulating brush for a finger pickup seed meter comprising a flat carrier on which two sets of bristles are mounted. The flat carrier defines two mounting positions for the singulating brush. In its first mounting position the first set of bristles of the singulating brush contact the seed engaging spoons of the radially extending fingers for dislodging extraneous seed. In is second mounting position the second set of bristles of the singulating brush contact the seed engaging spoons of the radially extending fingers for dislodging extraneous seed. The first set of bristles is stiffer than the second set of bristles.

  • Patent number: 6176393
Abstract: A circular seed disc is provided with a series of circumferentially arranged seed attracting apertures. The disc has a seed receiving side which is in contact with the seeds. The seed receiving side of the disc is provided with a screen which covers the seed attracting. The screen is configured as a ring and maybe releasably secured in circular grooves adjacent to the apertures by a flexible and resilient spline, or the screen maybe fixedly attached on the surface of the disc.

  • Patent number: 5950550
Abstract: A seeding implement adapted to be towed forwardly over the ground is provided with a seed meter coupled to a material hopper for receiving seed. The seed meter is driven by a drive shaft for dispensing seed to a furrow at a rate determined by a rate of rotation of the drive shaft. An indicia bearing member is releasably secured to the drive shaft for rotation therewith. The indicia bearing member includes two side legs secured to the drive shaft and a reflective portion connected to the side legs, said reflective portion extending along an axis of the drive shaft for indicating rotation of the drive shaft to an operator.

  • Patent number: 5931105
Abstract: Sensor plugs are used to fill in sensor apertures formed in the front and rear walls of seed tubes used on row crop planters. The size of the plug and the depth of the plug is dictated by the diameter of the sensor aperture and the thickness of the walls of the seed tube. The interior surface of the plug is designed to follow the inside surface of the seed tube. The outside of the plug is provided with a cap assembly that is larger than the sensor aperture. This cap assembly has an inside surface that bears against the outside surface of the seed tube. A holding assembly comprising either a resilient C-clamp or plastic tie band are used to hold the cap assemblies against the seed tube.
