  • Patent number: 11384591
Abstract: A system for providing electronic features in a doorframe include a body structure having a top wall, a bottom wall and a plurality of side walls. The walls define an interior space of the body structure. A plurality of ports are formed in the top wall and a plurality of ports are formed in the bottom wall with each port opening into the interior space. One or more of the top wall ports is longitudinally aligned with a respective bottom wall port to form a port pair. A diverter is positioned in the interior space and extends in the interior space from one side wall and toward an opposing side wall. The diverter spans between the port pair. The diverter has a diverter surface that is configured for directing an element that extends through a port of the port pair toward an area in the body structure.

  • Patent number: 9157414
Abstract: A wind energy apparatus is made up of a plurality of modular wind energy devices or units. Each unit has a housing and at least two turbines mounted on the housing. Each of the turbines has a blade set extending upward from the housing. Each blade set has a vertical axis extending upward in relation to the housing. Each of the turbines has a generator connected thereto, each generator being disposed in the housing, and having a rotor and a stator. Each turbine is rotatably mounted with respect to the housing, and mounted to the rotor so that they rotate together. Each housing has a positive connector and negative connector on each side of the respective unit. The units, when placed together, connect their respective poles, positive and negative, together completing a circuit. Therefore, one may connect multiple units together.

  • Publication number: 20080016385
Abstract: System and method for providing information to a user about an electronic device. One or more diagnostic tests may be performed on the electronic device which indicate whether the electronic device is able to properly operate. Correspondingly, one or more problems may be identified with regard to the operation of the electronic device based on the one or more diagnostic tests. The problems may include configuration problems, e.g., where the user has improperly set up the electronic device and/or malfunctions, e.g., where a component has failed. Additionally, one or more speech phrases may be audibly presented to the user which indicate the problem(s). The speech phrase(s) may also indicate to the user how to solve the problem and/or what resources may be used to solve the problem. The method may also present a tutorial to the user which guides the user in configuring at least a portion of the electronic device.

  • Patent number: 7238021
Abstract: An arrangement that may be used in combination with selected tools having a tooth cutting surface for the care and maintenance such as removing a selected portion of the exposed surface of equine teeth. The selected tool in communication with a source of powered motion and mounted in and supported by a hand piece which is guided into the mouth of the horse. The cutting surface of the powered tool is partially guarded so as to protect fleshy portions of the horse's mouth from being engaged by the cutting surface. The hand piece provides for quick on and off attachment of a selected cutting surface for maintenance of a preselected portion of teeth within the same hand piece or another hand piece sized to ease access to the next selected portion of the horse's mouth. The selected hand piece arrangement may further incorporate a vacuum channel whereby the tooth dust and debris created by the powered cutting surface removing a portion of tooth is sucked out of the mouth of the horse.

  • Patent number: 6708855
Abstract: A transverse folding apparatus for folding cut web products into web wipes, napkins, and the like includes a tucker blade which follows a hypocycloidal path for folding the web products. A cutoff roll and an anvil roll cut a web into cut web products. The cut web products are conveyed along a first web path by first and second belts. The second belt also extends along a second web path which extends transversely from the first web path. The first belt extends along the first web path beyond the second web path. The tucker blade moves transversely past the first belt into the first web path to engage each web product and transversely fold the web product into the second web path. A creasing roll along the second web path engages the folded edge of each web product. A pair of stacker infeed belts extend along the second web path and convey the web produts from the second belt to a stacker.

  • Patent number: 6286712
Abstract: A stack of interfolded sheets is formed from a plurality of groups of interfolded sheets. Adjacent groups are secured or bonded together so that the bottom sheet of each group pulls the top sheet of the next group. In one embodiment of the invention, the strength of the bond is such that when the bottom sheet of a group is withdrawn through an opening in a package for the stack, the bond releases the top sheet of the next group after the top sheet is partially withdrawn through the opening. In another embodiment of the invention, the strength of the bond is such that the top sheet remains secured to the bottom sheet and is completely withdrawn through the opening. The sheets can be secured by an adhesive bond or by a non-adhesive bond.

  • Patent number: 6024375
Abstract: Attachment for a binding (1) having straps and fitting a user's boot, the binding attached to a snow gliding or wake boarding device. Upon detachment of one end of each strap of the binding, the ends are attached to a spanning bar (11). A closing lever (10) is mounted to the spanning bar (12,14) to provide a preselected mechanical advantage. A front clip (30) having a niche rod (32) is mounted near the toe end of the binding (33), and a rear clip (20) having a latch (26) is mounted near the heel end. The closing lever is engaged with the niche rod (32) and then with the latch (26), moving the spanning bar downward and tightening the straps around the boot. The first insertion of the boot requires adjustment of the strap tension; subsequent insertions do not require further adjustment. The closing lever (10) is releasable from the latch, loosening the straps for boot removal. The latch may be fitted with a cable release and a safety lock (28) to prevent disengagement of the closing lever from the latch.

  • Patent number: 5884546
Abstract: A punch unit includes a punch driver having a punch connected to it. A guide bushing receives the punch for guiding its axial displacement. A compression spring urges the punch driver rearwardly, away from the guide bushing. An intermediate member located between the guide bushing and the compression spring includes a collar, a holding member positioned concentrically inside the collar and releasable retaining means. The collar is rotatable relative to the holding member such that rotation in a first direction moves the retaining means into a locked position in which the guide bushing is prevented from moving longitudinally out of said holding member and rotation of the collar in a second direction opposite to the first direction moves the retaining means into an unlocked position in which the guide bushing is removable from the holding member.

  • Patent number: 5865571
Abstract: A drill bit is provided with a cylindrical body portion fabricated from a plastic material. The body portion is fastened in concentric, end to end relation to a cylindrical cutter fabricated from a metallic material and having an array of cutting elements disposed thereon. The body portion and cutter are preferably tubular, wherein the cutting elements are disposed in an annular array, to facilitate core or crown drilling operations. The wall thickness of the tubular body portion may be increased relative that of the cutter to compensate for wear during drilling.

  • Patent number: 5839341
Abstract: A punch unit allows an adjustable length adjustment of the punch by disengaging projection-seat means which connect the housing and the guide bushing and then rotating the guide bushing relative to the housing. Additionally, the housing has mutually engaging housing top and bottom parts that have engaging fingers and corresponding grooves that cooperate during punching. The connection between the housing and guide bushing includes a C-ring, attached to the housing, having protrusions which are biased to engage a groove located on the guide bushing.
