  • Patent number: 10092251
Abstract: The plan CT is described to generate dual energy (DRR) that stimulates the treatment time radiographs in order to prospectively evaluate the angles in which issues for the template matching algorithm are present, and thus the visibility of the tumor. The present invention uses template matching to quantify the “trackability” of the target from different angles or directions. The peak-to-side lobe ratio is used to measure trackability. The results of this process influence treatment planning. For example, based on the outcome, either less or no dose is planned for the angles in which the location of the templates cannot be verified and thus, the tumor.

  • Patent number: 8284899
Abstract: An x-ray tube having a reduced spacing between the focal spot of an anode and an adjacent end wall of an evacuated enclosure is disclosed. This in turn positions the tube relatively closer to the chest wall of a patient during mammography procedures. In one embodiment, the x-ray tube comprises an evacuated enclosure having first and second ends interconnected by a cylindrical side wall. The evacuated enclosure includes a rotor assembly having a bearing assembly and a stem. An anode is rotatably supported by the stem of the rotor assembly and includes a target surface and an opposite second surface. The target surface is positioned to face the bearing assembly, while the second surface is positioned to face the first end of the evacuated enclosure, with no intervening structure interposed therebetween. A cathode is included to emit electrons for impingement on a focal spot of the focal track.

  • Patent number: 5825848
Abstract: A rotating anode X-ray target has a matrix structure such as a carbon-carbon matrix and a high Z material imbedded inside this matrix structure. The high Z material may be a refractory metal with atomic number at least 72, its alloy or carbide and may be imbedded in the matrix either as discrete particles or as a non-discrete layer. Such a target can be made by any of a number of known methods such as chemical vapor deposition and chemical vapor infiltration. Without a TZM layer or a braze required for holding together an x-ray-producing surface layer and a carbon heat storage material, the target can be made lighter and can be operated at higher temperatures.
