  • Patent number: 8531286
Abstract: A security system includes at least one audio sensor and an alarm panel that transmits alarm report data through a communications network to at least one alarm receiver located at a central station remote from the premises that receives the alarm report data transmitted from the alarm panel through the communications network. A line card receives the alarm report data. An alarm receiver processor receives and processes regulated alarm report data in accordance with Underwriter Laboratories 1610 requirements. The line card is operable for receiving non-regulated alarm report data that is not regulated in accordance with Underwriter Laboratories 1610 requirements. The line card includes a secondary communications channel interfaced to a central station automation system and routes the regulated alarm report data to the central station automation system over the secondary communications channel and bypasses the alarm receiver processor.

  • Patent number: 7042349
Abstract: A security system includes a sensor and a control panel that receives transmissions from the sensor. The sensor has a user-operable testing actuator that tests a condition sensing device in the sensor. A method of operating the sensor includes generating, in response to actuation of the testing actuator in the absence of a predetermined condition, a transmission from the sensor including information indicating that a test of the sensor has been conducted. The method further includes receiving by the control panel, in response to actuation of the testing actuator in the presence of the predetermined condition, a transmission from the sensor indicating that the control panel should not report to a monitoring station.

  • Patent number: 6537335
Abstract: A candle having a selectively and reversibly variable color pattern. In one embodiment, the candle comprises a solid transparent gel with a thermochromic or photochromic pigment dispersed evenly throughout. The candle main body changes from a first color to a second color, or from colored to transparent, or from transparent to colored, in response to heat or light from the candle flame, and reverts to the original color or absence of color upon extinguishing the flame. The candle comprises (a) a solid combustible matrix, and (b) a reversible thermochromic or photochromic composition blended into said solid combustible matrix.

  • Patent number: 6290977
Abstract: A topical flowable personal care product, and more specifically, a shower gel shampoo, body lotion, moisturizing cream, sunscreen, skin toner, or the like, exhibiting a thermochromic color change, preferably at a discrete temperature, preferably at a temperature between about 20° C. (room temperature) and about 37° C. (skin or shower-water temperature). The composition thus changes in response to body heat or the heat of a bath or shower.

  • Patent number: 6106849
Abstract: A "single-use" personal care product designed to replace conventional single use products such as small bars of soap, mini-bottles of shampoo, etc. A water soluble foamed polymer structure, such as produced by freeze drying acemannan derived from aloe vera, serves as the carrier for the personal care active ingredient, and provides the bulk to the structure. The dry foamed product has high void volume, good dimensional stability, high surface area, dissolves easily and completely upon exposure to water and hand mechanical action, and leaves no adverse residue on the skin. The product does not require bottling or complex wrapping, and is much more economical and environmentally friendly than the conventional single use products it replaces. The product can be conveniently carried in a purse or pocket, so that a consumer need never be without his/her favorite personal care products.
