  • Patent number: 5458334
Abstract: A golf club which generally includes a shaft, a grip and a clubhead, which includes a sole, a back and a clubface. The surface layer of the clubface of the golf club is a substantially harder material than the material generally comprising the clubhead. The process for imparting the substantially harder material onto and to become a part of the surface layer of the clubface generally includes micro-welding an electrode material to the surface of the clubface. The micro-welding process can be any one of a number of known micro-welding processes, such as electro-spark deposition, or others. The electro-spark deposition process generally includes the utilization of an electrode, through which short duration, high amperage charges are directed through the electrode and the clubhead. Extremely short duration discharges at high discharge frequencies result in deposition of the electrode material onto the clubface of the golf club, such that it becomes micro-welded.

  • Patent number: 4405851
Abstract: An apparatus and process for depositing metal from one conductor to another by electrode deposition. One conductor, the electrode, may remain in contact with the other conductor, the workpiece, as the electrode is continuously oscillated about a central electrode axis. Short duration, high amperage charges are directed through the oscillating electrode and the workpiece. The charge duration is controlled by the charging rate of a capacitor in a charging circuit. The rate of capacitor discharge is prescribed by an independently triggered thyristor. Extremely short duration discharges at a high discharge frequency results in deposition of the electrode material onto the workpiece.

  • Patent number: 3989579
Abstract: An apparatus for forming envelopes from thermoplastic sheet material including means for feeding said sheets at predetermined intervals along a conveyor means, means for heating the thermoplastic sheet along a narrow transverse zone, means for moving the heated sheet into contact with a curved surface which is of such a configuration that the sheet is folded along the heated zone into an envelope, and means for heat sealing the envelope along the side edges thereof.
