  • Patent number: 7559779
Abstract: The electrical connector may include a shroud and a harness connector. The harness connector is disposed within the shroud. The harness connector may include at least one aperture. The electrical connector may include at least one electrical contact disposed in the at least one aperture. The electrical connector may include a cam arm operatively engaged with the harness connector wherein pivoting of the cam arm will move the harness connector with respect to the shroud. The cam arm may pivot between an upper position wherein the harness connector is fully raised within the shroud and a lower position wherein the harness connector is fully lowered in the shroud.

  • Patent number: 6623283
Abstract: A surface mount connector for circuit board attachment is provided in the form of an elongate pin with a head or base formed at the lower end of the pin. The base has a bottom surface that extends substantially normal to the axis of the pin and is dimensioned to be positioned on, and soldered to, a pad on a primary circuit board. A solder bond is achieved by re-flowing a quantity of solder applied to the pad along with a quantity of flux before placing the base on top of the quantity of solder. The base is formed with a plurality of channels that open through the bottom surface and through a peripheral wall of the base for permitting gases generated by vaporizing the flux during solder re-flow to escape from underneath the base and to increase the strength of the solder bond between the pad and the base. Exhaustion of the gases prevents undesirable skating of the connector and misalignment and eliminates voids in the solder bond that would otherwise weaken the bond.

  • Patent number: 5695366
Abstract: A shielded electrical connector includes an elongated dielectric housing having opposite ends and a plurality of transverse extending terminal-receiving cavities. A pair of elongated metal shells have narrow elongated flanges interfacing at a longitudinal seam. At least one shell includes a tab projecting from the flange thereof into an opening in the flange of the other shell. The tab is are bent in the longitudinal direction behind the flange of the other shell.

  • Patent number: 5123854
Abstract: A shunting system for a modular jack type connector which includes a dielectric housing defining a plug receiving cavity open at one end of the housing. A plurality of terminals are mounted in the housing, with contact portions disposed in a single row. A pair of programmable shunts substantially identically stamped and differently formed from sheet metal material are provided for engagement with the contact portions when the two shunts are mounted in different positions on the housing. Selected different ones of the contact fingers of each shunt are removed so that the remaining contact fingers engage only selected ones of the contact portions.
