  • Publication number: 20230193699
Abstract: One illustrative method disclosed herein includes positioning a first tubular adjacent a second tubular, wherein one of the first and second tubulars includes a plurality of radially deflectable fingers formed in an end thereof, mating the first and second tubulars into mated engagement with one another, wherein, during the mating of the first and second tubulars, the radially deflectable fingers deflect in a radial direction, and expanding the first and second tubulars by forcing an expansion mandrel through the mated first and second tubulars such that the expanded first and second tubulars have an expanded inside diameter that is greater than an initial inside diameter of the first and second tubulars.

  • Publication number: 20200277833
Abstract: One illustrative method for top to bottom expansion of tubulars within a wellbore comprises positioning the tubular, with an expansion mandrel positioned therein, within the well and expanding the tubular by forcing the expansion mandrel through the tubular in a down-hole direction of the well while forcing well fluid displaced by the expansion of the tubular into the formation.

  • Publication number: 20150259985
Abstract: A short matrix drill bit is disclosed along with methods of manufacturing the same. The Short drill matrix bit includes a combination shank/blank bonded to a matrix. The combination shank/blank includes a blank portion and a shank portion, which are formed as a unitary component. The combination shank and blank may also include an outer layer formed along at least a portion of the combination shank/blank. In some instances, the outer layer is nickel plating, or some other suitable material, which facilitates wetting of the binder material used to form the matrix.

  • Patent number: 6142248
Abstract: Subterranean drill bits and particularly to nozzle features to be incorporated in subterranean bits. In one embodiment, the nozzle assembly of the invention defines a wear resistant structure which extends upstream from the terminus of the transition area. In another embodiment, nozzle assemblies are arranged about the transition area at low angles so as to minimize flow turbulence.
