Publication number: 20240151147Abstract: The present disclosure relates to an airfoil assembly for a turbine engine and methods of assembly thereof. The airfoil assembly generally includes a composite airfoil and a spar. The composite airfoil has a pressure side and a suction side extending in an axial direction between a leading edge and a trailing edge defining a chordwise direction and extending radially between a root and a tip defining a spanwise direction and having a span-length. The spar includes a first portion including a first material and a second portion joined at an interface with the first portion. The second portion further includes a second material, different from the first material, joined to the first portion at an interface. The method generally includes joining the first portion with the second portion at the interface; and assembling the spar with the composite airfoil.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 3, 2022Publication date: May 9, 2024Applicant: AIRFOIL AND METHODS OF ASSEMBLY THEREOFInventors: Gary Willard Bryant, Jr., Nicholas Joseph Kray, Ming Xie, Elzbieta Kryj-Kos, Douglas Lorrimer Armstrong, Nicholas M. Publication number: 20240017602Abstract: An e-axle assembly includes a housing extending from a first housing end to a second housing end to define an internal compartment. At least one electric motor is disposed in the internal compartment and includes a stator and a rotor rotatable relative to the stator about an axis. The rotor defines a hollow extending internally within the rotor, and at least one of a gearing mechanism, a shifting actuator, and/or a differential is disposed within the hollow (and thus packaged within the rotor). In a preferred arrangement, all and any of the gearing mechanisms, shifting actuators, and differential are disposed within the hollow of the rotor. This internal packaging of the drive components within the rotor reduces an overall space and weight of the e-axle assembly relative to the prior art designs to more easily and readily achieve the smaller space and weight allotments afforded by electric and/or hybrid vehicles.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 12, 2023Publication date: January 18, 2024Inventors: Donald REMBOSKI, William Kroppe, Gary Rogers, Mark Versteyhe, John Stoiber

Patent number: 11858343Abstract: A lubricant supported electric motor assembly includes an electric motor module, a shifting and first stage module, and a final drive module sequentially operably interconnected with one another for producing drive torque that is ultimately conducted to a wheel of a vehicle. The electric motor module includes a stator and a rotor defining an internal rotor cavity. The shifting and first stage module is disposed within the internal rotor cavity and includes a first planetary gear reducer assembly and an output gear selectively coupleable to said first planetary gear reducer assembly. The final drive module is disposed adjacent the shifting and first stage module and includes a second planetary gear reducer assembly operably coupled with the output gear. A shifting mechanism establishes selective coupling between the first planetary gear assembly and the output gear to transfer adjustable torque from the shifting and first stage module to the final drive device.Type: GrantFiled: January 24, 2023Date of Patent: January 2, 2024Assignee: ELECTRIC PROPULSION TECHNOLOGIES, LLCInventors: Donald Remboski, Mark Versteyhe, Gary Rogers, Gorazd Gotovac, Marko Podgorelec, Sebastjan Er{hacek over (c)}ulj, Bla{hacek over (z)} Grafenauer, Ga{hacek over (s)}per {hacek over (S)}u{hacek over (s)}ter{hacek over (s)}i{hacek over (c)}, Martin Strojnik

Patent number: 8872908Abstract: Embodiments disclose a two imager biometric sensor. In some embodiments, the two imagers can include a direct imager and a TIR imager. In some embodiments, multispectral light sources can be used to illuminate target tissue imaged by two imagers. In some embodiments, composite images can be created from images detected using both imagers.Type: GrantFiled: August 26, 2010Date of Patent: October 28, 2014Assignee: Lumidigm, IncInventors: Ryan Martin, Robert K. Patent number: 8731250Abstract: Some embodiments of the present invention disclose systems and methods for a multiplexed multispectral imaging, object discrimination, background discrimination, and/or object identification. In some embodiments, a multispectral sensor is provided that includes at least two illumination sources and an imager with a color filter array. The two illumination sources can illuminate a platen with light having distinct illumination angles as well as distinct characteristics, such as distinct wavelengths or wavelength bands and/or distinct polarization conditions. The color filter array, which may be integral with the imager or separate therefrom, can filter light based on the specific distinctions between the two illumination sources. A single image of an object at the platen can be acquired. Individual pixels of the image will then be highly associated with one or the other illumination source. Because of the filtering by the color filter array, this image will include information about the illumination angle.Type: GrantFiled: August 26, 2010Date of Patent: May 20, 2014Assignee: Lumidigm, Inc.Inventors: Ryan Martin, Robert K. Publication number: 20140116196Abstract: A flared or bell shaped motorcycle/bicycle handgrip which improves the design of handgrips, more specifically handgrips for mountain bike type bicycles and motorcycles with clip-on handlebars. Clip-ons are comprised of two separate short handles which are attached directly to the fork tubes, are placed lower than conventional handlebars, and are angled downward creating a lot of pressure on the wrists while riding. In order to alleviate wrist strain, and improve throttle control and steering inputs, the body of the present invention has an external surface which is flared. This flare spreads out the pressure and provides a larger surface for the palm to rest upon, and a larger surface area to grab onto, providing a more secure grip for mountain bikers. The flare is achieved by the base area progressively increasing in diameter, radially, the last half of the grip adjacent the second end, which is flat.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 7, 2013Publication date: May 1, 2014Inventor: Derrick Gary Rogers

Publication number: 20120279529Abstract: A tank cleaning unit is movable within a storage tank and applies cleaning fluid from a fluid spray nozzle onto accumulated sludge or waste in the tank to clean the tank under control of a control system located externally of the storage tank. The unit is moved by drive motors mounted a transport chassis of the unit with guidance from remote control to clear a path toward a desired position in the tank with the cutter fluid spray. The unit applies cleaning fluid to the interior of the tank to clean the accumulated sludge or waste. The unit includes structure to prevent tangling of the supply and control conduits and conductors connecting it to the remote control system. The unit also provides improved visibility in the presence of vaporous or foggy conditions within the tank during spraying, and is more maneuverable while in the tank.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 2, 2011Publication date: November 8, 2012Applicant: Veolia ES Industrial Services, Inc.Inventor: Gary Rogers, JR.
