  • Patent number: 10587947
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for delivering sound to a user ear are disclosed. In one example, an apparatus for delivering sound to an ear canal includes a body attachable to an electro-acoustic transducer and an ear canal port attached to the body arranged to insert into an entrance of the user ear canal. The apparatus includes a suspension member attached to the body arranged to contact the cavum concha behind the antitragus and flexibly suspend an electro-acoustic transducer attached to the body above a floor area of the cavum concha. The suspension member is further arranged to flexibly suspend the electro-acoustic transducer attached to body adjacent a sidewall area of the cavum concha.

  • Patent number: 7052281
Abstract: Cable winding devices and mechanisms for providing direct cable to electrical component connections without brush contacts are disclosed. Electronic controls may be provided directly on the cable winding device. The cable winding device generally includes two cable segments physically disconnected from each other, a spool configured for winding the cable segments thereon, and a circuit component such as a printed circuit board assembly that rotates with the spool. The circuit component may include electrical contacts to electronically connect corresponding pairs of wires of the cable segments and a user-adjustable or user-actuatable electronic control in communication with the electrical contacts. The circuit component may provide a pair of electrical contacts for each corresponding pair of wires in the cable segments and the electronic control is in communication with at least one pair of the electrical contacts.

  • Patent number: 6297462
Abstract: A rotary matrix switch allows arbitrary selection from among different electrical connection configurations between m input terminals and n output terminals by rotation of a shaft or dial. A rotary shaft has a plurality of contact mechanisms at spaced locations and angular positions. The locations of the contact mechanisms correspond to individual contacts between the input and output terminals. The contact mechanisms may be lobes, indentations, conductive strips, or the like. Rotation of the shaft selectively engages ones of the contact mechanism to connect electrically various input and output terminals. The rotary shaft is removable to allow for the ability to make field upgrades and provide new configurations of connections. One embodiment of the invention can function as a telephone headset adapter, wherein rotation of a shaft allows the user to choose easily from among different handset port wiring configurations.

  • Patent number: 4876712
Abstract: A telephone headset is connected to a telephone line through a interface module having programmable signal conditioning characteristics. The interface module is universal in that it can be programmed for use with many different headset or handset units. The interface module is automatically programmed through a multi-pin connector carried on the headset or handset connecting cable. The pin arrangement in the connector when plugged into a mating receptacle connector of the interface module produces binary input signals which can be decoded into programming signals for the signal conditioning circuit in the module.
