  • Publication number: 20030028673
Abstract: Improved browser caching performance in portable, handheld and wireless communication devices has been achieved by ASIC compression and decompression engines that compress cache content resulting in a more efficient use of the limited memory of such devices. Based on a data type, the compression engine selects an appropriate compression accelerator which invokes a corresponding compression algorithm, to compress the cache data. The process is reversed when the cache is requested by the browser.

  • Publication number: 20030028612
Abstract: Server services are provided by a mobile server having a master server portion and a virtual server portion. The master server portion resides in a wireless communication device and is responsible for the overall function of the mobile server and communicates with a data network through base stations and a support node that supports packet radio service communications. The virtual server portion is wireline coupled to the data network and acts as the foreground server responsible for client interactions on behalf of the mobile server. Accordingly, server services are available even when the wireless communication device is not available.

  • Publication number: 20020119360
Abstract: In solid polymer electrolyte fuel cells, a laminar flow of a dilute oxidant stream, for example air, may be disrupted by incorporating obstacles in the channels of an oxidant flow field. The laminar flow is changed to turbulent flow thereby enhancing the flow of oxygen to the membrane electrode assembly in the fuel cell and improving fuel cell performance.

  • Patent number: 6360966
Abstract: A rotary sprinkling head structure of a sprinkling gun including a gun body, an anti-detachment ring, an inner cap, and a rotary cap. The front end of the sprinkling head of the gun body is disposed with a variable water discharging head and an outer stop slope is adjacent to a rear side of the variable water discharging head. Several water exits are formed behind the outer stop slope and a slope guide face is formed behind the water exits. An anti-detachment ring groove is formed behind the slope guide face. An adjusting outer thread is formed at the rear end of the sprinkling head and several annular engaging ribs are formed on the outer circumference of the rear section of the inner cap.

  • Patent number: 6362878
Abstract: Improved calibration of optical wavelength measuring instruments. In a first embodiment, improved calibration is achieved in an optical wavelength measuring instrument by performing calibration measurements at a plurality of known wavelengths and using an average calibration constant derived from the plurality of measurements. In a second embodiment, improved calibration is achieved by performing calibration measurements at a plurality of known wavelengths and calculating a linear or higher order calibration model, or a periodic model. These approaches may be extended by segmenting the wavelength range and using different calculated calibration values, or different calibration models, for each segment.

  • Patent number: 6249343
Abstract: Wavelength reference standard using multiple gasses and calibration methods using same. A wavelength reference using absorption lines of multiple gasses provides stable reference wavelengths over multiple regions of interest of the optical spectrum. The gasses may be in separate cells or combined in one cell. Improved calibration using the reference is achieved by performing calibration measurements at a plurality of known wavelengths and using an average calibration constant derived from the plurality of measurements. In a second embodiment, improved calibration is achieved by performing calibration measurements at a plurality of known wavelengths and calculating a higher order calibration model, such as a least-squares linear fit. Both approached may be extended by segmenting the wavelength range and using calculated calibration values for each segment.

  • Patent number: 6219963
Abstract: A drip type watering device for gardening use is disclosed; and more particularly it relates to a watering device which is inserted partially into soil to permit water, liquid fertilizer or chemicals for change of nature of soil of plants to be discharged drop by drop automatically without periodically watering by manual labor. It is made up of a container, an adjustment cap, a sealing lid and an insertion means. The adjustment cap adjustably engaged with the sealing lid is removably secured to the container is used either to precisely regulate the volume of water to be discharged with ease or to effectively seal a container associated with the watering device to prevent water from leaking out.
