  • Publication number: 20090234924
Abstract: This disclosure describes techniques of automatically associating messages with conversations. As described in this disclosure, when a messaging application stores a message, the messaging application uses a set of heuristics to identify a conversation associated with the message. After identifying the conversation associated with the message, an interface may be presented that group together messages that are associated with common conversations. Such an interface may enable individuals to quickly locate and read messages associated with a conversation.

  • Publication number: 20090204903
Abstract: Unique content in interrelated email messages is identified and duplicate content filtered out for user friendly display of a flow of exchange within the interrelated messages. Follow-on messages such as replies or forwards are compared to the original message to determine which part of a follow-on message is not present in the original message and is a unique part of the follow-on message. The comparison includes parsing of the messages to extract user viewable parts determination of which extracted part is the last message part containing unique information. Once the unique message part is determined, message body that excludes everything after the unique part including the headers is be displayed.

  • Publication number: 20090183096
Abstract: Emails are modeled as conversations, which are stand-alone email artifacts distinct from conventional folders. Conversations are arranged to reference messages, to have properties and an existence of their own, and present messages to a user reflecting the relationships between the messages as part of a conversation. Emails aggregated under a conversation may be assigned conversation related attributes in addition to the distinct attributes of the conversation itself. Conversations may be processed specially based on their characteristics such as being muted, branched into sub-conversations, and the like.
