  • Publication number: 20180151026
Abstract: A plurality of virtual instant tickets are loaded onto a memory of a microprocessor that is physically provided to the consumer. The consumer is physically given a small object, such as a bank card or hotel room key card that has the microprocessor embedded therein. The memory of the microprocessor includes a validation number of each virtual instant ticket, and the winning or losing outcome of each virtual instant ticket and the value of any winning outcome. A purchase is made to unlock a portion of the virtual instant tickets, thereby allowing that portion of tickets to be played. The consumer uses a computing device that interacts with the microprocessor to play the tickets and informs the consumer of the outcome. Additional virtual instant tickets may be unlocked with subsequent purchases. The memory of the microprocessor is updated to indicate the one or more virtual instant tickets that were successfully played.

  • Publication number: 20170330213
Abstract: Coupons are electronically delivered by a coupon generating subsystem to a plurality of mobile devices via gaming sessions experienced on the mobile devices. A memory of the coupon generating subsystem stores a set of rules associated with delivery of the coupons from the coupon generating subsystem to the mobile devices, wherein the set of rules include a payout table that determines the value of coupons that are delivered. A gaming session is initiated on one of the mobile devices when the mobile device is within a broadcast range of the coupon generating subsystem. The gaming session uses a random number generator and a central processing unit of the coupon generating subsystem to generate a result for the game of chance using the payout table in the memory. The result determines the value of a coupon to be electronically delivered via the coupon generating subsystem to the mobile device.

  • Patent number: 9639865
Abstract: A distributed generation of coupons system and method is described. One example develops a campaign having a set of rules at a campaign management system. in addition, a communication channel is established between the campaign management system and a coupon generating subsystem. The campaign having a set of rules is provided from the campaign management system to the coupon generating subsystem via the communication channel. The coupon generating subsystem is authorized to independently generate a coupon based on the set of rules of the campaign without requiring communication between the coupon generating subsystem and the campaign management system.

  • Publication number: 20160261588
Abstract: A secure NFC Smart Card supporting the enablement of escalating authentication is described. The system includes a secure NFC Smart Card comprising two coupled applications. The first application emulates a standard NFC tag returning NDEF messages with the addition of a specific NDEF message including a unique Smart Card identifier and a unique signed token that varies per tap. This unique signed token, when verified, identifies a specific Smart Card and a specific tap. The second application provides a challenge (Profile)/response (signed Token) interaction. This interaction allows a device to present a challenge (Profile) to the second application which will verify the challenge (Profile) and sign a response (signed Token). This signed Token, when verified, identifies a tap occurring with a specific device (provided by the challenge) at a specific Smart Card.

  • Publication number: 20160224971
Abstract: Systems, apparatus, and methods for managing an application installed on a mobile device, such as a mobile phone are provided, so as to prevent or limit unauthorized use of the application, for example, when the mobile device is lost, stolen, or otherwise subject to unauthorized use. A request to enable or disable user access to a function of the application can be received by a server computer. A command message responsive to the request can be generated by the server computer, the command message comprising control data for enabling or disabling user access to the function of the application. The generated command message can be transmitted to the mobile device over a wireless network.

  • Publication number: 20160226882
Abstract: Systems, apparatus, and methods for managing an application installed on a mobile device, such as a mobile phone are provided, so as to prevent or limit unauthorized use of the application, for example, when the mobile device is lost, stolen, or otherwise subject to unauthorized use. An input indicative of a password to access the application can be received. It may be determined that a predetermined number of password entry attempts has been reached based on the input. A request message to disable access to the application can be transmitted from the mobile device to a remote computer. One or more lock instructions for disabling access to the application can be received by the mobile device from the remote computer. The one or more lock instructions can be executed by the mobile device by modifying control data within a secure memory of the mobile device.

  • Patent number: 9002739
Abstract: Advanced internet-connected devices, such as smart TVs, can be used for conducting online transactions. Online transactions often lack an effective mechanism to prevent repudiation of the transaction. Signature data, representative of a consumer's signature motion, may be captured by a signature capture device. The signature capture device can be the smart TV or a device associated with the smart TV (e.g., a remote controller). The signature device can also be a security token. The signature data may be processed, stored, and/or transmitted for later use. The representation of the consumer's signature provides a non-repudiation mechanism similar in function to that of a consumer's actual handwritten signature on a credit card or debit card receipt.

  • Patent number: 8989712
Abstract: System, methods, and apparatus provide account balance alerts for a mobile phone used to initiate a transaction when an account balance is close to a credit limit or close to zero or a minimum balance amount. When a consumer uses an account associated with a mobile phone to make a purchase, the account is checked to see if the purchase would result in an account balance within a predetermined threshold of the credit limit in the case of a credit account, or within a predetermined threshold of zero or a minimum balance, in the case of a debit account. If the threshold has been surpassed an account balance alert is automatically sent to the mobile phone. Since the mobile phone was just used for the transaction, the consumer is timely notified of the approach of the balance to the credit/debit limit and can take corrective action in a timely manner.
