The backing member includes a plate-like backing material, a thermal conductor, and a thermal conductive plate, wherein the thermal conductor and the thermal conductive plate are made of a material having a thermal conductivity higher than a thermal conductivity of the backing material, wherein the thermal conductor is buried in the backing material, and formed to have a columnar shape so as to reach both of two plate surfaces of the backing material, and wherein the thermal conductive plate is provided on at least the plate surface of the backing material that is near the ultrasonic vibrator.
