  • Patent number: 6065890
Abstract: An improved self-contained cleaning apparatus which has a washing element and a wiping element situated in a coincidentally spaced relation to one another such that a surface is cleaned by synchronized washing and wiping.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 10, 1998
Date of Patent: May 23, 2000
    Inventor: Gene C. Weitz
  • Patent number: 5811380
Abstract: A water insoluble cleaning composition for cleaning insulated telecommunication cables comprising a solvent, a preservative oil and an antioxidant. The cleaning compositions of the present invention are useful for removing filling media from insulated telecommunication cables while simultaneously maintaining the Oxidative Induction Time of the cable. The Oxidative Induction Time of the cable treated with the inventive compositions remains substantially the same as untreated, intact cable in which the filling media has not been removed. A method of using the inventive compositions for the cleaning of telecommunication cables is also disclosed.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 11, 1996
Date of Patent: September 22, 1998
    Assignee: Rainbow Technology Corporation
    Inventor: Gene C. Weitz
  • Patent number: 4781847
Abstract: An improved aqueous gel lubricant comprising water and about 0.5 to 25 wt-% of at least one 200 to 8,000 molecular weight polyalkylene glycol such as polyethylene glycol and polypropylene glycol. Preferably, the lubricant further comprises about 0.01 to 10 wt-% viscosity modifier such as a water soluble resin, natural gum, or cellulosic compound. The lubricant may further contain an effective antioxidizing, preserving, solvating, suspending and freezing point depressing amount of a hydroxy compound.

    Filed: May 8, 1986
Date of Patent: November 1, 1988
    Assignee: American Polywater Corporation
    Inventor: Gene C. Weitz
  • Patent number: 4749059
Abstract: A cable lubricating device (1) including a split housing (2). Lubricant (25) is introduced into the housing through a vertically oriented orifice (6), the cable (37) advancing in a generally horizontal direction. A coupling adaptor (59) permits withdrawl of lubricant by a standard fitting (64) without danger of the collapse of hose (56) even at high lubricant discharge pressures. A series of sponges (18, 19) apply lubricant to the cable in a metered fashion. A method is also disclosed wherein lubricant may be "preloaded" into conduit (26) to enhance uniform lubricant distribution.

  • Patent number: 4628747
Abstract: A method and apparatus for accurately measuring the tension exerted upon a fiber optic cable (10) during its installation into a conduit (20) and preserving the reading of maximum tension for future reference. The apparatus (22) includes first and second member portions (26, 38) which are secured relative to one another by a bridge member (36). Bridge (36) has mounted thereon a deformable, electrically resistive element (44) through which a current flows and varies in response to the varying resistivity caused by the element's deformation. Current flow is, in turn, channeled through a microprocessor (48) which converts variations in current flow to equivalent readings of tension which are being applied to the cable (10). The tension readings are displayed by appropriate means.
