  • Patent number: 8851543
Abstract: A lug reversibly connectable to a wear plate having a hole extending therethrough. The lug includes a coupling means and a plug. The plug comprises an upper surface. In a first position the lug is connectable to an underside of the wear plate such that the coupling means extends through said hole and outward from an upper surface of the wear plate an in this position can be engaged by a hoist. In a second position the lug is connectable to the underside of said wear plate such that the plug fills said hole whereby the upper surface of the plug is aligned with the upper surface of the wear plate to thereby present an even wear surface.

  • Publication number: 20050126056
Abstract: A bulldozer blade comprising a generally upright horizontally elongate blade wall. The blade wall is vertically curved and has a lowermost working edge for scraping material The bulldozer blade further comprises a coupling rearwardly of the blade wall for coupling the blade to a bulldozer vehicle. A lowermost one third of a front surface of the blade wall has one or more wear plates fastened thereto. The one or more wear plates comprise a mild steel backing with an exposed hard facing layer. The hard facing layer has a hardness of at least 500 brinell. The wear plates provide a substantially continuous and smooth hard faced sliding surface that facilitates the smooth flow of materials over the surface of the blade.

  • Patent number: 6854808
Abstract: A materials transport container having a floor and two opposed upwardly extending side walls and a front wall. The container is supported to enable tilting for unloading of material from a rear end. The container has a substantially continuous and smooth hard faced surface on a rear portion of the floor adjacent the rear end to enhance sliding of its load over the smooth hard faced surface. Additionally arcuate surfaces bridging a junction between one or more of the front and side walls and the floor of the container to reduce hangup of material. The arcuate surfaces are smooth hard faced surfaces. The hard faced surfaces are provided by removable wear plates with gaps between then to allow flexion and ease of removal. It is found with use these hard faced wear plates become polished and greatly assist with the removal of material from the transport container.

  • Patent number: 5362937
Abstract: An apparatus for applying weld metal for the purpose of hard-facing of metal plates and a method of operation of the apparatus. A metal plate is moved through an apparatus in which there are weld heads including welding electrodes. The metal plate has a slight induced convexity in the region of the welding heads so that an accurate distance is maintained between the welding electrode and the surface of the metal plate. The convexity is formed by a wheel assembly under the plates and the wheel assembly may also include cooling means. The advantage of the flat plate system is that long lengths of plate may be hard-faced.

  • Patent number: 4514443
Abstract: Apparatus for coating an internal wall of a curved conduit (50) with a layer of protective material, characterized in that it comprises a guide means (46, 46a), a longitudinally flexible member (44) which is transversely substantially rigid associated with the guide means, means for mounting a coating means (62) adjacent a first end of the flexible member for incremental rotation with the flexible member, a drive means (28) for driving the flexible member relative to a curved conduit (50) to be coated, so that the coating means can enter the curved conduit in use and so that the coating means can deposit a strip of protective material longitudinally of the conduit, and means (32, 34, 36) acting on the flexible member for automatically stepping the flexible member and consequently the coating means by a rotational increment after the coating means has completed a traverse of the conduit and for automatically reversing the drive means so that the apparatus deposits a strip of protective material adjacent the fi
