  • Patent number: 8226823
Abstract: A salometer and flow rate sensor assembly for a water softener system including a brine tank containing a brine solution including at least one sensor housing provided in the brine tank, a first detector set associated with the housing and configured for indicating whether the brine solution is adequately concentrated and a second detector set associated with the housing and configured for measuring the brine solution flow rate during brine draw and refill cycles of regeneration.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 26, 2008
Date of Patent: July 24, 2012
    Assignee: Culligan International Company
Inventors: Kerry Quinn, Gene Wayman, Kumudika Premathilake, Bill Lathouris
  • Patent number: 8133385
Abstract: A grey water treatment system for use in conjunction with a water softener, including a grey water holding tank including a first inlet configured to receive grey water and a second inlet configured to receive spent brine from the water softener. The spent brine is mixed with the grey water in the holding tank to flocculate suspended solids in the grey water for subsequent removal.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 6, 2009
Date of Patent: March 13, 2012
    Assignee: Culligan International Company
Inventors: Kumudika Premathilake, Gene Wayman, Sharyn Schnabel, Kerry Quinn

  • Patent number: 7338595
Abstract: A fluid treatment system includes at least one flow-through tank, a treatment device configured for treating at least one of an untreated fluid and a treated fluid and providing the treated fluid to the at least one flow-through tank and at least one sensing device configured for sensing the quality of fluid in the at least one flow-through tank. The sensing device is connected to the treatment device for providing the treated fluid to the at least one flow-through tank upon a determination of a quality of fluids in the at least one flow-through tank being less than or equal to a predetermined fluid quality threshold.

  • Patent number: 6645383
Abstract: A process and apparatus for membrane treatment of a feed liquid to form a product liquid includes feeding a feed liquid, typically an aqueous solution such as tap water, to a primary membrane. The primary membrane separates the feed liquid into a primary membrane retentate which is retained by the primary membrane, and a primary membrane permeate. The primary membrane retentate is then fed to one or more supplemental primary membranes, or to a secondary membrane. The primary membrane retentate (or supplemental primary membrane retentate if a supplemental primary membrane is employed) is separated by the secondary membrane into a secondary membrane retentate which is retained by the secondary membrane, and a secondary membrane permeate passes through the secondary membrane. The secondary membrane retentate may either be collected and disposed of, or may be fed to one or more supplemental secondary membranes.
