    Abstract: A rotary electric machine comprises a rotor core and a plurality of permanent magnets embedded in the rotor core along a circumferential direction of the rotor core. The rotor core includes a magnetic pole portion disposed between two permanent magnets adjoining along the circumferential direction of the rotor core. The magnetic pole portion includes a circular arc surface whose cross-sectional shape in a direction perpendicular to an axial direction of the rotor core is a circular arc shape differing in curvature from an outer circumferential circle which is a circumference of a maximum outer diameter portion of the rotor core.
