  • Publication number: 20230294908
Abstract: A handheld can, such as an aerosol can, having a high friction surface thereon to improve a user’s grip on the can. The high friction surface is grippy or tacky, but not sticky, and does not attract dirt, dust, and other debris thereto. The high friction surface retains its coefficient of friction under wet conditions and over extended use. The coating can be on at least the top 25% of the length of the can, in relation to the applicator nozzle. An example of a suitable material to form the high friction coating is a water-based polyurethane, optionally with a filler.

  • Patent number: 10537087
Abstract: Determining the quality of milk due to the presence of mastitis by monitoring the oxidation reduction potential (ORP) of the raw (unpasteurized) milk. The ORP of the milk is tested by a sensor placed into the milk soon after having been removed from the animal (e.g., cow) and prior to the milk being combined in a bulk tank with milk from other animals. The sensor can be positioned in the line carrying the milk from the cow, allowing real-time testing of the milk. Each mammary gland (e.g., quarter) is tested separately, and the ORP levels are compared. Any gland (e.g., quarter) having a level that deviates from the other levels by a predetermined amount is considered suspect for mastitis.

  • Patent number: 6183785
Abstract: Compositions, systems, and methods for the prevention of mastitis in milk producing animals is provided. In particular, the compositions comprise a source of zinc, preferably zinc gluconate, and chlorhexidine. The composition is applied to the teat of a milk producing animal such as a cow either by dipping the teat therein or spraying the composition thereon.

  • Patent number: 4716032
Abstract: A method, composition and containerized product for use in preventing the disease of mastitis in dairy cows and other animals. The invention employs a homogeneous disinfectant composition in the form of an aerosol spray which applies disinfectant to the teat while at the same time chilling the teat, particularly at the lower end where the teat sphincter muscle is located. Use of the present disinfectant composition, which contains an aerosol propellant such as dimethyl ether, results in chilling temperatures of about 25.degree. to 35.degree. F. being attained on the exterior surface and orifice end of the teat. By such treatment, the teat sphincter is caused to contract and close the teat orifice, thus reducing the incidence of infection.
