  • Patent number: 4940264
Abstract: In the case of a flange connection for rectangular air conditioning ducts which have four walls, four flange profiles with four rectangular angle-pieces are fitted frame-wise on the end of a duct portion. The flange profiles are in this case subhstantially L-shaped hollow profiles which are in each case fitted onto a duct wall and fixed there with a plurality of spot welds. Problematical is the seal between the inner arm of the flange profile and the duct wall, because by reason of spot welds which are situated close to but at a distance from one another, air can flow out into the free atmosphere between them and over the end face of the duct wall. In order to achieve better tightness, there is formed into the hollow profile a bead extending from the front radial portion. An inner arc of the bead lies with a clamping fit on the top of the duct wall and presses it against the inner longitudinal arm so achieving a seal which it is possible easily to implement in manufacture.

  • Patent number: 4649645
Abstract: The orange peeler, on the one hand, permits a cutting motion in a direction that corresponds with the natural sequence of movements of the body while the fruit is peeled and when the skin has to be separated. For this purpose, the handle section is shaped in such a manner that it can conveniently be held in that its top surface and its under surface each have essentially one groove. The handle section changes over into a first end portion which has been shaped into an essentially circular shield. Centric to the shield there is arranged a shaped protrusion which has longitudinally the profile of a ship's hull, so that cutting edges are created which are oriented diagonally to the longitudinal extent of the orange peeler. At its second end portion there is arranged a peeling blade which ends in a quarter circle to round-off the blade. The cutting edge of the blade has wave-like notches to facilitate the lifting of the peel and the fluffy white skin that is located between the skin and the meat of the orange.

  • Patent number: 4508479
Abstract: A fastener for sheet metal has a head, a bifurcated stem, a cross-piece running radially through the stem, and a gripping keeper placed between the sides of said stem with a pin running through a cutout in said gripping keeper. At least one side of the cutout in the gripping keeper and the outer side of the gripping keeper next thereto are placed at a small angle to each other so that, after the fastener has been inserted through holes in two members to be fastened together, with the gripping keeper lined up with the stem, the gripping keeper may be turned through 90 degrees about the pin and then pushed in a direction generally normal to said stem, for example, by using a hammer, so that the two members are forced together by a wedging effect.

  • Patent number: 4410206
Abstract: A flange connection for the ends of two pieces of square ducting has eight pieces of open-sided box girder, four of which are slipped out and fixed onto each of the two ends forming frames thereon. The two frames are then bolted together. For producing the desired sealing force along any two paired of the two frames, anglepieces at the frames' corners have nosepieces running out against each other so that, on screwing up the bolts tight, the middle part of the two girders in a pair are levered and bowed out towards each other for producing said sealing force. Each of the bolts is placed through a hole running through and have two legs on each anglepiece and through two wall parts of each of said box girders.

  • Patent number: 4154547
Abstract: A connecting member for connecting substantially perpendicular sheets of metal has an annular head and a shank with a longitudinal slot extending to a transverse bore. The axis of the transverse bore is at an acute angle to the central plane of the slot. At its maximum, the acute angle forms a point of the wall zone between the end of the slot and the bore which is permanently deformable into the transverse bore by one of the metal sheets guided in the slot.
