  • Publication number: 20120281845
Abstract: A method for determining an impedance of an electroacoustic transducer (13) is provided. The electroacoustic transducer (13) is to be arranged in an ear channel of an ear (19) of a user. According to the method, an output signal is supplied to the electroacoustic transducer (13) and an input signal indicating an impedance of the electroacoustic transducer (13) in response to the supplied output signal is determined. A filtered output signal is generated by filtering the output signal with a bandpass filter having a predetermined frequency range. A filtered input signal is generated by filtering the input signal with a bandpass filter having the predetermined frequency range. Based on the filtered output signal and the filtered input signal the impedance (21, 22) of the electroacoustic transducer (13) is determined for the predetermined frequency range.

  • Publication number: 20110064251
Abstract: Vibration generation for an electronic device is performed by a speaker and vibrator assembly. In an audio mode, the assembly may be used to output audio, such as ringtones, alerts, music, and so forth. In a vibration mode, speakers of the assembly drive movement of a weight. The movement of the weight results in user-detectable vibration of the electronic device. Also, audio and vibration may be output at the same time by using a signal that includes an audio component and a signal that results in movement of the weight.

  • Publication number: 20110029106
Abstract: A method in a mobile terminal, for rendering audio content of a media file, is provided, in which the mobile terminal includes a vibrator for generating vibrations at a particular frequency, based on a voltage applied to the vibrator. The method includes reading the audio content of the media file, identifying signals representing bass tones of the audio content, recognizing the frequency of the bass tones, checking if the frequency is within an operating range of the vibrator; if so, calculating a particular voltage to apply to the vibrator, and applying the calculated voltage to the vibrator, and providing feedback of the vibrator generated frequency, to aid the calculating unit in adjusting the applied voltage for causing the vibrator to generate vibrations at the recognized frequency when the identified bass tones of the media file are rendered.
