  • Publication number: 20150265948
Abstract: An anti-drainback/bypass valve for an oil filter having an annular base portion, a resiliently deflectable annular anti-drainback skirt extending radially outwardly from the base portion, and a resiliently deflectable annular bypass skirt extending radially inwardly from the base portion, wherein the base portion is characterized by being stiffer than the resiliently deflectable anti-drainback skirt and the resiliently deflectable bypass skirt. By stiffening the base portion, a hinge area of the resiliently deflectable bypass skirt is controlled to open at relatively high pressures. Controlling the hinge area prevents failure of the resiliently deflectable bypass skirt at pressures below a prescribed criteria, which prevents unfiltered oil from bypassing a filter element when the filter element is not clogged.

  • Publication number: 20110037023
Abstract: An aqueous slurry according to the invention comprises (a) a crystalline aluminosilicate represented by the empirical formula M2/nO.Al2O3.xSiO2.yH2O wherein M represents a first metal moiety, said first metal having a valency of n, x indicates the ratio of molecules of silica to molecules of alumina and y indicates the ratio of molecules of water to molecules of alumina, (b) a salt of a second metal selected from the group consisting of Group III metals, metallic elements of Group IV, magnesium, titanium, chromium, iron, nickel, copper, zinc, zirconium and silver, said salt of a second metal being present in an amount which is sufficient to replace from about 2.0 to about 40 per cent by weight of the first metal moiety, and (c) particulate silica having a BET surface area greater than 500 m2/g and a pore volume, as measured by nitrogen manometry of less than 2.1 cm3/g. The slurry is stable on storage but has a low viscosity at low shear rate.

  • Patent number: 5184025
Abstract: A computer-controlled, uninterruptible power supply system is disclosed. The system selectively operates from more than one input source of power, e.g. an AC line input, an external DC input and internal batteries. The system is of the type which utilizes one or more switch mode converters and is well suited for use in computer systems. The switch mode regulator has a PWM clock signal and provides a PWM drive signal. The PWM clock signal frequency is substantially greater than the PWM drive signal frequency. Transferring between the DC power sources is done in a manner substantially transparent to the regulator and the load, generally as follows. A signal indicating a transfer to a selected one of the DC power sources is gated in response to the PWM clock signal to form a first logic signal that is synchronized to the PWM clock signal. The first logic signal is gated in response to the PWM drive signal so as to form a second logic signal that is further synchronized to the PWM drive signal.
