  • Publication number: 20110248503
Abstract: A piston pump is anchored to the ocean floor with the piston rod connected to a float that rides on the surface waves. The pump connects to a sparge line that discharges a spray of water through the float to indicate proper pump function. The float is formed with a conical upper portion and a conical lower portion and has an annular resilient rim. An array of pumps sends water under pressure through an aquaduct to an onshore electric power generation station, optionally including a reservoir. Water is returned from the generation station to the vicinity from which it was pumped.

  • Patent number: 4192496
Abstract: Apparatus for receiving a stack of case blank sheets from a source of supply and delivering the sheets in shingled arrangement, for further processing, by receiving the stack at a first level, elevating the stack intact vertically to a second level above the first level, where the stack is transferred to a feeder located at the second level for operation in association with a stripper to feed the sheets forward in shingled arrangement from the bottom of the stack, while stabilizing the stack against toppling backward during feeding of the sheets forward from the bottom of the stack.

  • Patent number: 4049259
Abstract: Method and apparatus wherein flat corrugated paperboard sheets in stacks are rearranged into a horizontally shingled array of the desired faced orientation and fed toward an exit in the apparatus, each stack being fed onto a conveyor, then tilted to a first posture wherein the sheets are not yet in the horizontally shingled array, but are supported with their edges resting on the conveyor and with their faces making an acute angle with the conveyor, the sheets then being moved toward the exit while supported on their edges in the first posture, and then being dropped from the first posture into a second posture, wherein the sheets are in the shingled array, and into juxtaposition with shingled sheets of a previous stack on the conveyor for establishing a flow of continuously shingled sheets toward the exit.

  • Patent number: 4022332
Abstract: An apparatus receives case blanks in a given faced orientation within an upright stack and delivers the blanks in shingled arrangement in reverse faced orientation. Two forks are pivoted about a common pivotal axis and move independent of one another, in response to a control system, to upset the upright stack and establish the shingled arrangement and reverse faced orientation.
