  • Patent number: 4576188
Abstract: A roller for curling hair is comprised of a pair of tubular plastic members joined together at one end and having flanges at the other end thereof. The flanges have enlarged diameters and are partially separated from the respective tubular members by vents. A foam plastic sleeve is tightly fit on the outer surfaces of the tubular members between the flanges, without the use of adhesive. The foam sleeve may be formed by die cutting, and subsequent heat shrinking to reduce its wall thickness.

  • Patent number: 4361427
Abstract: There is provided an air filtration apparatus which includes a housing and an internal vertical partition substantially centrally within the housing. The partition divides the housing into two chambers, and an electrical motor is mounted on the partition with coaxial drive shafts extending into the two chambers. Fans are mounted on the drive shafts, and an intake louvre is located outwardly adjacent each fan. A filter panel between each louvre and the corresponding fan takes microscopic particles out of the air, while a further air filtering means above the chambers moves microscopic particles and deodorizes the air.

  • Patent number: 4298787
Abstract: There is provided a compact apparatus for heating and setting hair, including a housing, a central wall in the housing defined by two spaced-apart panels, a plurality of elongated members passing through the central wall perpendicularly and extending to both sides thereof within the housing, and a flexible rope-like heating element between the two spaced-apart panels and wound around each of the elongated members, in order to provide heat thereto. The apparatus includes a number of hair-curling cylinders of conventional construction adapted to fit over the ends of the elongated members. By providing this construction, a single elongated member serves as two heating posts for two of the hair-curling cylinders, and the overall construction is relatively compact compared to prior devices. A reservoir for water is situated in the central wall, and heat from the heating element vaporizes the water to provide steam within the housing around the curling cylinders on the elongated members.

Steam generated within the curling arm is projected through perforations therein to the interior of the mandrel. Treatment liquid or water is metered in discrete quantities to the curling arm from a reservoir within a handle portion in accordance with the operation of a control button..Iadd.The invention also provides a valve system operated by a button for pumping metered quantities of liquid along the curling arm, and also provides a removable liquid reservoir located in a concealed portion of the handle beneath a closure. .Iaddend.
