    Abstract: The present invention describes a n-butane absorption process for purifying the ethylene product from an ethane oxidation process. The ethane oxidation product is fed to a series of absorption towers using a n-butane solvent that remove the inert components as well as purifying the ethylene from the product. A first absorption tower uses n-butane as a solvent to absorb both the ethane and ethylene, allowing for inert gasses to be removed from the stream. An ethylene-rich side stream from this tower is sent to an ethylene purification tower where ethylene is purified using n-butane solvent. The bottom stream from the first absorption tower is then sent to an intermediate ethylene recovery tower where crude ethylene is purified, and the overhead ethylene stream being sent to the ethylene purification tower.

    Abstract: Disclosed is a process for acquiring crude trimethylolpropane (TMP) of low reacted color. TMP is generally prepared by the condensation of n-butyraldehyde and formaldehyde in an alkali solution. The mixture is then concentrated and placed through an extractor. It has been found that a high concentration of low color TMP is present in the extractor and may by obtained by taking a slip stream of hot organic/water/TMP from the extractor and allowing the mixture to cool and phase separate. Upon separation of the phases, TMP generally having an acid wash color of about or less than 5 GU is recovered from the water phase. Disclosed is use of a single and multistage extractor.

    Abstract: Disclosed is a process to produce paraformaldehyde prills having a low dissolution time and low concentration of insoluble formation. The insolubles are believed to lead to stickiness, tackiness, and loss of flowability of the product, loss of handling, and lead to storage problems of the final prill product. To address this problem, a concentrated formaldehyde solution is prepared having a purity ranging from 37%-99% and may be mixed with an amine additive, an amine and alcohol additive, or amine, alcohol, and caustic additive. Alternatively, the final prill may be sprayed with an amine or amine mixture stabilizer.

    Abstract: The invention provides sealing members for a chain. A pair of sealing members is provided for each end of a bushing. The sealing members respectively surround the ends of the bushing and are housed between inner sidebar portions and the outer sidebar portions of the chain. Each of the sealing members includes a collar which is pressed onto one of the ends of the bushing and which is positioned in closely spaced relation to one of the inner sidebars. Each collar has a circumferential flange or outer and inner collar portions which extend toward and engage one of the outer sidebars. Each collar defines an annular groove surrounding the bushing. Each sealing member further includes a resilient sealing ring housed in each annular groove. Each resilient sealing ring surrounds the bushing and engages in a sealing relation with the outer sidebar engaged by the collar in which it is housed.
