  • Publication number: 20180303020
Abstract: Ipomoea batatas ‘NC 05-198’ is a high yielding, orange fleshed, smooth skinned, rose-colored, table-stock sweetpotato. Plants from beds are early and storage root shape is generally not affected by cool planting conditions. ‘NC05-198’ produces uniformly shaped and sized roots resulting in a high pack-out of No. 1 roots by sweetpotato packers, giving it a high economic value. It is tolerant to internal necrosis. Based on multiyear disease evaluations, ‘NC205-198 is resistant to fusarium wilt, moderately resistant to Streptomyces soil rot, and moderately susceptible to southern root knot nematode.

  • Publication number: 20180132403
Abstract: ‘NCORNSP-021SHJB’ is a moderately compact, to compact, non-twining, slightly upright variety producing many short shoots. It is distinguishable from other cultivars by its purple heart shaped leaves that are entire with a cordate base; a moderately compact to compact habit and semi-erect mounding plant architecture. The purple leaves of this plant, short internodes, and the plant architecture are what make ‘NCORNSP-021SHJB’ unique amongst the current ornamental sweetpotatoes in the marketplace. ‘NCORNSP-021SHJB’ also exhibits very good vigor and is very well branched. In greenhouse and field trials conducted since 2013, ‘NCORNSP-021SHJB’ has been shown to be much less vigorous than Ipomoea batatas ‘Margarita’ and ‘Blackie’ and is suitable for use as a landscape or containerized plant. The production of flowers by ‘NCORNSP-021SHJB’ is sporadic under short day conditions.

  • Patent number: PP34125
Abstract: Ipomoea batatas ‘NC04-0531’ is an orange fleshed, smooth skinned, dark rose-colored, table stock sweetpotato. ‘NC04-0531’ has good insect resistance. It has an upright, compact canopy that helps to suppress weeds within a row and is slower to trail across rows allowing for a longer period of cultivation with weed control. It is a long season variety to size for optimal production of No. 1 sized roots. Size and shape uniformity of ‘NC04-0531’ are very good. The flavor of the baked storage roots of ‘NC04-0531’ has been judged to be very good by standardized and informal taste panels. Because of its insect resistance and plant canopy characteristics, ‘NC04-0531’ is seen as a good option for organic production.
