  • Patent number: 4192256
Abstract: A compact, unitary pet dish especially useful during automobile or camping trips is provided which serves as both a pet food and watering station, and is designed to minimize water spillage during road travel. The dish preferably includes walls defining a water compartment and an exterior food-receiving cavity or recess in the top thereof. A combination watering cup and carrying handle is mounted on the exterior of one compartment wall and is in communication with the interior of the compartment through a selectively openable water flow aperture. An upright wall or partition is located within the water compartment adjacent and transverse to the water flow aperture and serves, along with the recessed, food cavity-defining walls, to dampen vibration-induced movement of water within the compartment. The aperture and watering cup are also cooperatively designed so that a vacuum lock is established when the cup is filled, in order to provide a constant supply of water without overflowing the cup.

  • Patent number: 4180143
Abstract: A safety step assembly for use with vehicles such as trucks or the like is provided with spring biased mounting brackets to removably mount the step assembly on a vehicle without resort to permanent attachment means, and includes spring biased parallelogram support linkage which is automatically operated upon mounting and dismounting of a step by a user to swing the step between an inward raised storage position thereof and an outward lowered position of use. Engageable holding structure interposed in the swing path of the linkage blocks movement of the latter when the step is in the use position and maintains such linkage in an inclined position to impose a stabilizing force on the step, thereby securely holding the step in the use position thereof without fear of shifting or instability.

  • Patent number: 4145842
Abstract: A pair of swingable gate sections include respectively associated latching mechanisms for normally latching the gate sections in a closed position and further include a pair of spaced triggering members engageable by an approaching vehicle for automatically activating the latching mechanisms to unlatch the gate sections and allow the latter to be swung to an open position under the force exerted by the vehicle as the latter passes through the gated area. The gate sections are respectively mounted by inclined hinges on a pair of spaced supporting members whereby the gate sections are automatically drawn under the influence of gravity back to their closed positions after the vehicle has passed therethrough whereupon the latching mechanisms automatically relatch the gate sections in their closed positions.
