  • Publication number: 20130039050
Abstract: In one embodiment, a solid-state luminaire has a strip of high power LEDs, where each LED emits light into an optical coupler. Light from the optical coupler is then coupled into a light guide. Light coupled into the light guide is mixed and guided to an exit aperture of the light guide. An optical extractor proximate the exit aperture of the light guide redirects light outward, which is optionally redirected generally downward by a secondary reflector that extends outwardly along the length of the light guide. The secondary reflector may be configured to create a variety of light-emission patterns. The luminaire may be hung from a ceiling, in track lighting, used as a pendant or pedestal fixture, or in other applications.

Abstract: A variety of illumination devices are disclosed that are configured to manipulate light provided by one or more light-emitting elements (LEEs). In general, embodiments of the illumination devices feature one or more optical couplers that redirect illumination from the LEEs to a reflector which then directs the light into a range of angles. In some embodiments, the illumination device includes a second reflector that reflects at least some of the light from the first reflector. In certain embodiments, the illumination device includes a light guide that guides light from the collector to the first reflector. The components of the illumination device can be configured to provide illumination devices that can provide a variety of intensity distributions. Such illumination devices can be configured to provide light for particular lighting applications, including office lighting, task lighting, cabinet lighting, garage lighting, wall wash, stack lighting, and downlighting.

  • Publication number: 20090189591
Abstract: In temperature sensing circuitry PTAT (Proportional to Absolute Temperature) Voltage References are typically used. By adding a feedback circuit and a source follower into the classic design, the circuit can guarantee that the current is mirrored identically regardless of the value of power supply voltage. This added circuitry is easy to implement and is low in both power and area. The essence of this invention is that the PTAT circuit allows a large range of operation including low voltage (1 Volt) and more accurate temperature readings.

  • Publication number: 20080231600
Abstract: Disclosed are various embodiments of an optical mouse illumination system that provides near-normal incidence of light beams upon a surface without employing complicated beam-splitter assemblies, and without employing near-grazing incidence methods of illumination. The optical mouse illumination systems disclosed herein provide higher efficiencies than most prior art optical mouse illumination systems, and yet are less expensive and less complicated to manufacture. The systems disclosed herein are also well adapted for use in battery-powered mouse applications. Illumination prisms forming portions of the systems disclosed herein may or may not have total internal reflection (TIR) mirrors incorporated therein. Roof prisms of various types may be employed in conjunction with TIR mirrors and illumination prisms to eliminate or reduce the effect of dark spots in the beam of light emitted by the light source. Coherent or incoherent light sources may be employed with the optical systems described herein.
