  • Patent number: 4297098
Abstract: Living human hair is progressively colored to the desired light brown shade by repeated applications of a preparation containing a low concentration of a mixture of oxidative dye components, namely, 2 to 3 components selected from p-phenylenediamine (or p-toluenediamine), pyrogallol, and m-aminophenol. To obtain a gradual, true color development, it is important to employ the dye components in certain relative proportions. In the use of the preparation, no oxidizing agent is added, and the color development reaction is obtained by contact of the dye mixture with atmospheric oxygen. The preparation is preferably in the form of an aqueous gel also containing hair grooming or conditioning agents.

  • Patent number: 4061150
Abstract: This invention is concerned with the pretreatment of hair on the human head, preceding shampooing the hair with anionic type hair shampoos, and with compositions for effecting such pretreatment, to obtain highly improved manageability of the hair after shampooing and with improved fullness, compability and other desired properties of the hair. The pretreatment compositions utilize readily water-soluble quaternary ammonium compounds, particularly in combination with certain agents, notably polyethylenimines and N-ethanolacetamide, and desirably together with various supplemental ingredients.

  • Patent number: 3977151
Abstract: Aerosol packages using carbon dioxide gas as the propellant can be manufactured on present commercial undercap filling machines by a method using a solvent for the liquid fill composed essentially of ethanol, restricting the liquid fill to 35 to 65% of the container volume, and charging the container with high pressure CO.sub.2 gas (e.g., 500 to 800 psig) while limiting the lift of the cap unit to not over 0.23 inches, or less.
