Abstract: A locking apparatus and method of use are provided. In one form, a locking apparatus includes a horizontal member including hinges and a vertical member bisecting the horizontal member. The locking apparatus includes a fastening mechanism operable to secure the horizontal member to the aperture. The locking apparatus also includes a handle on the vertical member to allow the locking apparatus to be manipulated by the user without stooping and a clasp along the aperture enabling storage of the folded apparatus. The locking apparatus further includes a pressure sensor and a speaker operable to sound an alarm if someone attempts to force open the locking apparatus.
