  • Patent number: 5089302
Abstract: This invention is directed to a process for accelerating the fixation of chromated-copper-arsenate (CCA) preservative in wooden articles. The invention particularly pertains to a process of fixing CCA in softwoods such as lodgepole pine, so that it does not leach. A process of fixing chromated-preservatives in freshly treated wood by applying moderate heat to the treated wood while initially maintaining the treated wood in a highly humid or saturated atmosphere, and subsequently maintaining the atmosphere about the freshly treated wood at a controlled equilibrium moisture content level.

  • Patent number: 4368763
Abstract: Cutting apparatus having a chain saw operated by a hydraulic motor as it is simultaneously moved towards an anvil by a hydraulic cylinder in a scissor cutting action. A valve is connected to the pressure line of the hydraulic cylinder to divert hydraulic fluid from said line to control the energization of the cylinder in accordance with the load put on the motor by the saw chain. This valve includes operating means to control the flow of fluid therethrough from zero to sufficient to stop the hydraulic cylinder. A line extends from the pressure line of the hydraulic motor to the valve operating means to increase and decrease the fluid flow through the valve respectively in accordance with increases and decreases of the pressure in the feed line of the motor inversely to control the pressure in the feed line of the cylinder.

  • Patent number: 3974937
Abstract: A seal mechanism for the closure of a storage facility with means for monitoring and indicating any leakage at the seal. The sealing mechanism includes a chamber for containing gas under pressure which presses a seal against a seat on the storage facility so as to prevent leakage both from the gas chamber as well as the storage facility. Gauge means monitors the pressure in the gas chamber, indicating changes of pressure within the chamber to provide a warning of possible leakage at the seal, and, if desired, additional gauge means to indicate leakage within the storage facility that might be dangerous when said facility is opened.
