    Abstract: The combustion by-products in the effluvium of an internal combustion engine are treated in a magnetic field to remove electrons from the atoms of the combustion by-products which may thereafter be removed from the effluvium preferably by means carried within the confines of a second magnetic field. In the preferred embodiment, the combustion by-products are mixed to enhance commingling of the by-products of combustion prior to treatment in the magnetic field.
