    Abstract: To facilitate hands-free operation, a communications device holder (110, 300, 400) includes a tongue (202) that is adapted to mate with and be latched within a seat belt buckle (112) of an unoccupied vehicle passenger position. The communications device holder includes a docking assembly (200) that is adapted to receive and securely hold a communications device (120). The docking assembly includes interfaces for power, speakers, microphones and the like. A flexible member (302) is alternatively attached to the tongue to flexibly configure the position of the device holder. A seat belt buckle (402) is optionally attached to the communications device holder for securing the device holder both with the seat belt buckle for a passenger position and with the seat belt.

In the peripheral vision of the user, the signal quality indicator (110) indicates a quality of the signal received by receiver (130) of the portable radiotelephone handset.

  • Radio telephone interface apparatus for speed-dialing of telephone numbers

    Abstract: A radio telephone interface apparatus for speed dialing any of a plurality of stored sequences of digits forming telephone numbers. Pre-stored telephone numbers are stored in an electronic memory. Actuation of switches permits either sequential access to each of the stored telephone numbers or direct, nonsequential access to a desired set of stored telephone numbers. When the telephone numbers are sequentially access, mneumonic information associated with each one of the telephone numbers is provided to a voice synthesizer to provide an aural indication of the telephone numbers stored within individual ones of the directory locations.

  • Method for detecting the absence of a portable radiotelephone from a mobile radiotelephone system

    Abstract: The process of the present invention alerts a radiotelephone user when the portable is not connected to the power booster/antenna extender system. By checking for a connect signal from the radiotelephone, the system knows the portable is missing and alerts the user, thus enabling the user to install the portable before driving off without it.
