Publication number: 20230095633Abstract: A radio antenna interface for a portable radio is provided comprising a radio housing having a control top with a circular walled control top opening for receiving an antenna, the circular walled control top opening having an interior surface with a protruding bumper feature formed thereon. An antenna having has a base portion for insertion into the circular walled control top opening, the base portion has a ring feature forming a full circumference bump around the base portion. Once the antenna is assembled with the portable radio, the ring feature is located beneath and abuts with the protruding bumper to form the radio antenna interface. The radio antenna interface provides increased friction to minimize loosening of the antenna under extreme usage conditions.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 29, 2021Publication date: March 30, 2023Inventors: JIN SIANG CHEW, GARY A. Patent number: 8375571Abstract: A component assembly (10) used for picking and placing the component assembly includes a component (14-30) having a geometry incapable of being picked and placed or having a geometry that is unstable when placed through a reflow oven. The assembly includes a support member such as a detachable clip (11) having a pick and placeable surface such as a top flat surface (12). The clip attaches to the component to modify a center of gravity to form a stable component assembly once attached to the support member. The component assembly can further include conductive elements (such as a center conductor (17) of a coaxial cable (16) and at least one ground conductor (15)) used for registration with apertures or other surface locations on a substrate (19).Type: GrantFiled: September 22, 2008Date of Patent: February 19, 2013Assignee: Motorola Solutions, Inc.Inventors: George Mtchedlishvili, Joseph Q. Combey, Anthony M. Kakiel

Patent number: 7860541Abstract: A portable communication device (100) includes a radio (102) and RF memory key (104) that allows both RF and baseband signals to be transported over the radio antenna port. A single wire memory device (134) is embedded into RF memory key (104) along with frequency diplexing circuitry (116) to transport single wire bus communications between the radio (102) and RF memory key (104) while RF is passed from the radio (102) to an antenna (150).Type: GrantFiled: March 30, 2006Date of Patent: December 28, 2010Assignee: Motorola, Inc.Inventors: Ellis A. Pinder, George Mtchedlishvili

Patent number: 7796094Abstract: A mounting assembly (300) for coupling to a circuit board (180) is provided. The mounting assembly can include a radio frequency (RF) connector (330) for receiving an antenna, a flexible cable (340) connected to the RF connector, and an alignment wall (350) supporting the flexible cable and providing a guide channel (343) to flexibly mount the RF connector to a mechanical housing (190). The alignment wall can limit the movement of the RF connector to within a tolerance to alleviate a solder stress on the circuit board.Type: GrantFiled: March 30, 2007Date of Patent: September 14, 2010Assignee: Motorola, Inc.Inventors: George Mtchedlishvili, Juan B. Delaluz, Anthony M. Kakiel

Patent number: 7381078Abstract: A connector assembly (100) provides improved locking and retention through the use of a cylindrical body (102) having locking arms (104) extending therefrom and a malleable collar (106) that includes an integrally molded interior lip (114) and exterior bumps (116). The malleable collar (106) is slid over a portion of the cylindrical body (102) such that the bumps (116) align with the locking arms (104). Upon insertion of the connector (100) into a housing receptacle, the locking arms (104) compress the bumps (116) thereby providing resistance to aid with retention while the interior lip (114) abuts the cylindrical body (102) which facilitates sealing the receptacle.Type: GrantFiled: March 16, 2004Date of Patent: June 3, 2008Assignee: Motorola, Inc.Inventors: George Mtchedlishvili, Jody H. Akens, Adrian F. Rubio
