  • Publication number: 20160315414
Abstract: A connector module includes a housing assembly defined by an upper shell and a lower shell that mate and define an interior chamber therebetween. A cable segment of the upper shell includes an upper sealing rib extending into the interior chamber from an inner surface of the upper shell, and the cable segment of the lower shell includes a lower sealing rib extending into the interior chamber from an inner surface of the lower shell. The upper and lower sealing ribs rib each including two blades and a slot defined between the two blades configured to receive a cable therein. When the upper and lower shells are mated, a front side of the upper sealing rib abuts a rear side of the lower sealing rib to seal the interior chamber between the cable in the slots and the inner surfaces of the upper and lower shells.

Abstract: An embodiment is directed to a method and a connector for mounting on a substrate. Terminal receiving recesses extend through a bottom wall of the connector. Contacts are positioned in the terminal receiving recesses. The contacts have securing sections for securing the contacts in the terminal receiving recesses and substrate mating sections which extend from the bottom wall of the housing in a direction away from the top wall. At least one stabilization member extends from the bottom wall of the housing in a direction away from the top wall. The at least one stabilization member is movable between a first position and a second position. The at least one stabilization member engages the substrate when the at least one stabilization member is in the first position to maintain the connector in a stable position relative to the substrate.

Abstract: An electrical connector is provided for mounting on a printed circuit. The electrical connector includes a housing having a mating face, a mounting face, and an interior cavity. The mounting face is configured to be mounted on the printed circuit. A port extends through the mating face into the interior cavity. The interior cavity is defined by an interior wall of the housing. An electrical contact is held by the housing. The electrical contact includes a mating segment and a mounting segment. The mating segment extends within the interior cavity of the housing. The mating segment includes an exterior surface and a mating interface positioned proximate the port. At least a portion of the mounting segment extends along the mounting face of the housing for engagement with the printed circuit. A clearance exists between the exterior surface of the mating segment and the interior wall of the housing. The mating segment is movable within the interior cavity relative to the housing via the clearance.

  • Patent number: 6997736
Abstract: A guide module is provided for connecting a primary circuit board and a secondary circuit board to a common backplane circuit board. The module includes a body that has opposed top and bottom surfaces. A locating feature, on one of the body top and bottom surfaces, establishes a stack height for the secondary circuit board with respect to the primary circuit board. The guide module includes a front face defining a plane that is aligned perpendicular to a mating direction of the primary and secondary boards to the backplane board. The locating feature includes a raised fitting that has a centering rib on an outer perimeter thereof. The raised fitting is received in an attachment hole in the secondary circuit board. The locating feature also includes a boss that has an upper surface upon which the secondary circuit board rests when coupled to the primary circuit board. The upper surface of the boss establishes the stack height.

  • Patent number: 5941726
Abstract: Connector (10) including a connector subassembly (20) with a pair of covers (16) secured thereover extending from a mating face (24) to a cable exit to define a strain relief section (36) extending along a portion of cable (12). A pair of latch members (60) is secured in the connector, each in a respective channel (22) defined in the covers along opposite sides of subassembly (20). Actuating sections (68) protrude rearwardly along strain relief section (36) and are deflectable theretoward during actuation to release latching sections (64) from a mating connector for unmating. Protuberances (72) of the actuating sections 68 are received into recesses (40) of the strain relief section (36), for transmitting rearwardly directed unmating force from the latch members (60) to the strain relief section of the covers (16).
