    Abstract: An improved root ball container having a base member and a surrounding sidewall member forming a cavity therein for containing the root ball of a tree or other plant. The opening at the top of the sidewall member is smaller than the length or diameter of the base member, thereby providing stability to the plant during storage, growing and transport. The container may be moisture permeable or solid, and may consist of flexible or rigid sidewall and base members. The base may feature a platform member to further elevate the base member and root ball above the ground surface to prevent root damage during growing and/or storage of the tree or plant root ball enclosed by the root ball container.
