  • Patent number: 6668620
Abstract: A test for hydraulic leakage in hydraulic components uses a rate testing device having two circuits including a filling circuit that fast-fills the component with hydraulic fluid and a leakage circuit that measures the leakage rate of fluid flow through the component. The filling circuit is first connected to the component to fill the component. Once full, flow through the filling circuit is blocked and flow to the component is provided by the leakage circuit, which includes a leakage flow rate measuring device. The filling circuit provides a flow rate that is at least twice the flow rate that is provided by the leakage circuit.

  • Patent number: 6450194
Abstract: A spool valve includes a pressure control portion and a pair of flow control portions. Each flow control portion is adjacent to, and on opposite sides of, the pressure control portion. A first plurality of opposed notches are formed in the pressure control portion. The first plurality of notches have a first geometry. A second plurality of opposed notches are formed in each flow control portion. The second plurality of notches include at least one notch of a second geometry, different from the first geometry, and at least one notch of a third geometry, different from the first and second geometries.

  • Patent number: 4106818
Abstract: A powered assist braking system having a pressurized fluid source which also supplies fluid to the steering system of a vehicle is disclosed herein. The braking system includes left and right-hand brake actuators that cooperate with a power brake valve and the actuators are designed so that, when actuated, hydraulic fluid is trapped in a chamber and this fluid is supplied to actuate the brake while the pressurized fluid source assists in pressurizing the trapped fluid. The power brake valve has a pressure release assembly incorporated therein which controls the maximum pressure of the inlet fluid and also controls the flow of fluid to the steering system. The system also is designed to equalize the pressure of the fluid when both brakes are simultaneously actuated.
