  • Publication number: 20220403870
Abstract: It is known to use screws to fasten cladding to the structural timber framing of a building. A problem is that in an earthquake event, movement of the wall can cause the screws to bend and cause non-recoverable damage to the cladding and framing. This may adversely affect the ability of a building to absorb energy sufficient to resist the destructive forces that earthquakes bring to bear. The fasteners address this problem. The fastener has a head 2, a first shaft portion (a fuse) 4 and a second shaft portion (a shank) 5. The fuse extends between the head and the shank and has less resistance to bending than the shank.

  • Patent number: 11261997
Abstract: An annular safety valve that is positionable in a wellbore may include a housing having an opening extending through the housing to allow to allow pressure to transmit between a first annular area of the wellbore below the annular safety valve and a second annular area of the wellbore above the annular safety valve. The housing can define the opening by a seat face. A poppet may extend through the opening. A groove may at least partially surrounding the seat face for maintaining a shape of the seat face in response to an increase in pressure in the first area of the wellbore. The shape of the seat face may correspond to a surface of the poppet for preventing pressure from transmitting between the first annular area of the wellbore and the second annular area of the wellbore when the annular safety valve is in a closed position.

  • Patent number: 11180970
Abstract: A lower packer, seal stinger, upper packer, running tool, and setting tool is positioned into the wellbore. A force is applied by the setting tool, which causes the seal stinger to be pushed into a seal receptacle of the lower packer. The seal stinger is pushed by pushing the running tool which causes the upper packer to be pushed which causes the seal stinger to be pushed. A force is also applied by an internal rod of the setting tool to pull the running tool which causes the running tool to hold the lower packer in place as the seal stinger is pushed into the seal receptacle. The running tool and setting tool is then removed from the wellbore, wherein the lower packer, seal stinger, and upper packer comprise the straddle assembly.

  • Publication number: 20210357490
Abstract: A trusted device, such as a wristwatch, is provided with authentication circuitry, used to perform an authentication operation to switch the trusted device into an authenticated state. Retention monitoring circuitry monitors the physical possession of the trusted device by the user following the authentication operation and switches the trusted device out of an authenticated state if the trusted device does not remain in the physical possession of the user. While the trusted device remains in the physical possession of the user, communication triggering circuitry is used to detect a request to establish communication with a target device that is one of a plurality of different target devices and communication circuitry is used to communicate with that target device using an authenticated identity of the user.

Abstract: Methods for delivering an authenticatable management activity to a group of remote devices in a networked computing environment is described herein. An authenticatable management activity may be any activity which requires internal state changes to be made at a remote device, such as software or firmware updates, system configuration operations, access control list update operations, file transfer operations, changes to user data etc., and which requires an operators approval of the activity before being performed. In addition to an operators approval of the activity, the management activity is required to be signed by an operator, such that the operator authorising the management activity is authenticated.
