  • Patent number: 7219569
Abstract: A starter motor for an internal combustion engine having an integral one-way roller clutch and epicycle gear train unit is provided. The integrated unit includes an integrated gear support/clutch barrel which, on one side, houses the roller and spring elements of the clutch and, on the other side, supports the planetary gears of the epicycle gear assembly. The invention is of simple construction and provides reduced overall starter motor dimension while demonstrating improved noise, vibration and harshness characteristics.

  • Patent number: 6152444
Abstract: A shuttling media movement system moves media in a hardcopy device, such as an inkjet printing mechanism, a facsimile machine or a multi-function device. The shuttling media movement system has a first member with a first set of fingers for periodically supporting the media, and a second member having a second set of fingers for periodically supporting the media. A motor drive is coupled to the second member to periodically interleave the second set of fingers into and out of engagement with the first set of fingers to move the media with respect to the first member in the interaction zone. Vacuum forces or electrostatic forces are used to periodically grip the media against the sets of fingers. A hardcopy device is provided with such a shuttling media movement system, along with a method for moving media in an interaction zone of a hardcopy device.

  • Patent number: 4003986
Abstract: A method is disclosed for treating flue gas and the like for sulfur dioxide removal and sulfur recovery. The flue gas, containing a minor but polluting amount of sulfur dioxide, is contacted with ammonia in a reaction chamber. The reaction product is caused to precipitate onto a heat sink where it is mechanically removed on a continuous basis. The removed compounds are recycled by subjecting them either in solid or vaporized form to carbon monoxide between 140.degree. F and 600.degree. F to obtain sulfur and ammonia.

  • Patent number: 3948679
Abstract: A method for removing adherent deposits from metal surfaces is disclosed. The method comprises contacting the adherent deposits with a liquid and then heating and cooling the liquid in alternation for a time sufficient to dislodge the deposits from the surfaces.
