    Abstract: The invention comprises an externally mounted locking mechanism for telescoping tubes that permits releasable adjustment of the tubes to any telescoping position relative to each other and utilizes multiple cam action locking means operating both longitudinally and circumferentially relative to the tubes. Two preferred embodiments are disclosed, a two-piece structure and a three-piece structure, both of which are preferably molded from a plastic material.
