  • Patent number: 4751881
Abstract: Pyrotechnic igniter capable of being fitted in, and withdrawn from the throat of the nozzle of a propulsion unit. The igniter comprises parts bearing on the convergent section (1a) and on the divergent section (1b) of the nozzle. In order to permit the fitting and the withdrawal of this igniter at any time, while improving the conditions of ignition of the propellent charge, the igniter comprises, on the one hand, an internal rupture member (2) and, on the other hand, external means of fitting (3) which are capable of expanding radially, this internal rupture member initially maintaining the external means of fitting in a deployed position.

  • Patent number: 4690063
Abstract: Pyrotechnic gas generator utilizable particularly on a motor vehicle for operating safety devices, such as safety belt retractors. The generator comprises a resistant body containing an ignition bead (5) and a gas generating charge (3). In order to obtain very short operating times while offering maximum safety and reliability, the gas generating charge is separated from the ignition bead by a dielectric hood (6) which forms a leak-tight initiation chamber (7) around the ignition bead, the gas generating charge being composed of grains of powder based on nitrocellulose and a pulverulent oxyreduction powder containing at least one metal.

  • Patent number: 4621578
Abstract: Pyrotechnic initiators tripped by an electric current passing through a resistive element. These initiators can either be an inflammator, an igniter or a detonator. The pyrotechnic initiator with coaxial structure includes at least one filament (39) connected to the central conductor (34) and to peripheral conductor (35). To improve operating safety while simplifying the structure of the initiator, it is fitted with a standard coaxial connector (33), the end of which, intended for connection of the filament, is modified. The electrical insulation means, between the two conductors (34) and (35) and the electrical insulation means between the peripheral conductor (35) and the outside of the inflammator, include a common dielectric mass (40).
